BFG 285/65/18 or 305/65/18

Hey guys Im new to the site. I'm getting some new tires and need your alls opinion. I am wanting to upgrade from the 275/65/18 on my stock FX4 wheels. I love the look of the 305's but was wondering if a re-gear would be necessary in order to run these. Also would I notice a big power loss. I know that it would have to be leveled but I am going to do that via Bilstein 5100. I have not seen any 285/65 on stock 18 FX4 wheels but I believe it would be hard to beat the 305. Just looking for some info on the situation because I am going to order tires early this week. Thanks for the help.

I recently put 305's on my truck. I've had them on for just over a week.
If there is any performance loss (which there must be a bit of), I'm not even sure if I notice it or whether it's just psychological. That's how little the difference is.
My truck has 3.73 gears, and it's leveled with Bilsteins. I'm very happy with how the truck handles, and how it looks now.

Pics are in my gallery.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

What gear's do you have, better to have 3.73's but you can get by with 3.55's. A programmer later on can help. Good choice with the Bilstein's and the BFG 305's. And WELCOME to the site

The truck has 3.73's. I have made my decision and I am going to go with the 305's after seeing your guys trucks. Thanks for the help.

If you went with the 285's you'd probably wish you would have gone with the 305's later. Good move and get some pics up when you get them mounted. Those tires are close to 34 inches tall and will fill up the wheelwells nicely.

I'm alittle late but here is mine with the 285's. I like the height of the 285's but wish they were wider.

Are the FX4 wheels any wider than the Lariat wheels? I've had a few places tell me the 305 either wouldn't fit or would be a tight fit on a 7.5" wide wheel. For anyone that's had 305's on for a while, any problems with the tire not staying balanced or alignment getting screwed up?

The FX4 wheel is 7.5" wide. My 305's are balanced perfectly, as far as I can tell. I'm one picky **** when it comes to vibrations of steering wheel nibble as well. Alignment has been fine as well.
