Classic ? Black vs polished/chrome

So I'm looking at replacing my pythons with a new set of rims, but the big decision is black vs polished. The main reason I would get black is to be able to leave them on through the winter. I have searched the site and saw a bit of discussion on black wheels and durability in the winter, sounds like all after market rims (regardless of finish) are not durable in the winter. Also, if black wheels get scratched, do the scratches really show up (like a scratch on a black vehicle)? Anyway, these are the wheels I'm considering, all in a 17x9. Any opinions are welcome.

Pro Comp 7023

I'm leaning towards the DC-1's or the Eagle 186 (or Classic II's).

The Procomp 7023 is all right, but the Eagle 185's look real nice. I've always liked the look of MT Classics but never developed a taste for chrome. However, the silver accents on the 185 gives it the right amount of contrast when running a black wheel and tire combo.

Eagle 186 man would look awesome! I think the Cepeks would look similar to your current wheel. I feel as if your model F150 has a real curved appeal rather than squared look, and the round smooth features on the 186 would just flow great! Maybe flat black on bright shiny red would give a sinking effect to the truck.

I like the pro comps. I'm not a fan of the "hole" rims. I don't know what to call them. I like the modern look of the kmc's. I do wish my rims were black, but I got chrome for free so that sounds good to me.

Put it this way, in my opinion Black looks bada$$ and Chrome looks clean.

I'm not a big fan of any of those. I like the stock rims better imo. But you should look into going big and getting some lexani fire rims ;D GangSta Lean!!

black rims do tend to scratch like a trucks paint but the paint is a lot harder to scratch but the paint chips alot easier than it will scratch. rocks, mud, pressure washers will make them chip.

Thanks for your input everyone. Availability will also dictate which rim I get since the 5x135's are getting harder and harder to get. I'm also considering the Pro Comp 7189's (link below).

Strikeswiftly, I do agree with your opinion, I do like the look of the 186 style wheels on my model of F150, clean and simple. I do like the look of the DC-1's though, there is a member (kingcrete I think is his name) that has the DC-1's on his dark blue rig and they look awesome.

I think I'm down to the DC-1's and the Eagle 186's, the long shot would be the 7189's.

if the finish of the rims is what you are worried about check out the pro comp knight chrome rims. they come with a 3 year finish warranty.

dont go with the 186's!! everybody and their brother has those rims!!!

go with the DC-1's. or a different wheel alltogether.

black could chip, so can chrome, but you can always bring back the look of a polished rim.

In my opinion, if you keep the polished finish in good shape, to me they look the best out of all the other finishes out there. i do mine with mothers powerball and some aluminum polish, takes no time at all.

i love the shine they have. took em off for winter though
