big tires makes for a slug

got 22" boss 335s with tires.....i just measured and i found out my new tires are a whopping 31.25 inches compared to the old 28 inches and they are also super wide.....i like performace and are these tires destroying it becasue i think its slowing my truck down.....my 0-60 after i did my intake and exhaust was the same as when my truck was stock with stock tires...i think thats telling me im right...

its not the tires thats making you slow. its the 22" wheels. thats where all the extra weight is coming from. go with a smaller or lighter wheel and it should solve your problem

ha. i know how that can be. i guess its time to beef up the performance on the truck now. those heavy wheels are alot harder to move. not to mention stop. dont forget to upgrade those brakes too

A gear change would probably be a big help but not cheap.

i dont think he needs something that drastic at this point. a nice tune/exhaust/intake should do the trick. gears would probably be the last resort

tune up can do alot if the truck has never had one. e fans and u/d pulley can also free up some of that restricted HP.

is your truck 2 wheel drive? or 4x4? a gear swap would be the 1st thing i did if it was mine, why not get back in the rpm range you had before, you didnt lose any power in the sense, just not using it as efficiently. if you lifted a truck 12 inches and put 40's on it, added a supercharger and stuck with the stock gears it still would suck even with 400+ hp. not to mention it would bring back some of your fuel economy.

The big wheels, wide tires cost a lot in performance and fuel mileage. Part of the price paid for the appearance.

X2

The first thing I would ever do is the gear swap. For something like what your running I would go with probably 4.56's. Are you looking at going bigger in the future? Are you lifted? You have a ton more rolling mass you have to break free now compared to stock, so you drive train has to work harder to compensate for that.

Re-gearing would not only help your truck's mpg, but it would wake it up. You will be amazed at what re-gearing will do for your truck. It will also help to save you from costly repairs later down the road.

Here are a couple links to check out gears:
Gear Swap Write Up Rev. 1
4.10's or 4.56's
MPG with 4.56 gears

This is only a few if you check out this forum tons of info about them:

Good point, I have a 4x4 I am always over looking 4.30s because they do not make a reverse cut.
