Angry My new tires are bad!!!!

Well I found out that my new Terra Grapplers are bad. I bought these tires brand new from Discount tire direct. Waited for nearly a month before I pulled the trigger on some wheels. Well finally, last Saturday I had them installed. The tire guy couldn't beleive how easy they were to balance. He said that he has balanced alot of Nitto's lately and how everybody was satisfied with these tires. Once they were installed on my truck, I headed home. Going through town these tires preformed very well. Really quite and smooth. But, when I hit the highway, my truck started shaking violently!!!! My steering wheel felt like it was going to brake off in my hands!! My truck was bouncing everywhere.....I actually thought I was going to bounce off the road
My first thought was maybe the guy didn't know what the crap he was doing when he balanced them. So I called Midas to get a alignment done. I know this has nothing to do with tire bounce, but I had recently installed Bilstein 5100's so I needed one anyway. Thinking that might be the problem, I headed for the interstate........bad mistake. Still shook like a earthquake. Now I was really concerned. WTF?
So today I took my truck to another tire shop here in town. I told them about everything that took place since last Saturday. They said more than likely the guy didn't balance them right. So they gave me a free balance. None of the tires were off any than before. So I took off again same problem!! Determined to find out what is going on I took it to Firestone Service center. They gave me a free suspension check, drivetrain check, pretty much anything that could cause this problem. Then he told me it could be the tires. Disagreeing with him, he said he would put it up on a axle lift. Another technician hopped in my truck while it was in the air and put it in gear, with four wheel drive on so all 4 wheels were turning, and there it was. All 4 tires had a sever hop in them!!! So bad, that you could see the hop standing facing the treads!!! I couldn't freakin believe it!! Brand new tires and wheels, and now I have to go through this?? So the Tech spun the tires 180 degrees hoping that would somewhat help but it didn't.
I got home and called Discount Tire Direct and told them all the B.S. I went through. He said he has never heard of that problem before with these tires. Neither have I. Whats the chance of getting a whole set of bad tires. He told me that I could send the tires back and he would give me a full refund. He promised me that if I wanted the same tires that they would be good. So I took the offer. I really like the Nittos and heard nothing but good from these tires. So I guess I'll try them again. He even said that he would give me a $100 credit on them too after all the money I spent trying to find the problem. Sounds like a good deal. Only bad thing is now I have to put on my old crappy wheels and tires.
Sorry for the novel, just wondered if anybody has ever had this problem? It's pretty bad that out of 3 tire shops I went to, only one could find the problem. And another thing, Just cas a tire shop has expensive equipment dosn't mean they are better. The guy told me that when you balance a tire not only are you looking for the proper weight balance you also look at the top of the wheel while its spinning to see if its truely round.
Just thought I would share this novel with ya. Incase a similar situation happens to anybody else. I was scared to death that something was wrong with my truck, only to find out that it was my NEW TIRES!!!

I haven't heard any bad things about Nitto tires untill this. Anything's possible, even one of the wheels may be bad. The wheel and tire combo look's great on your truck, hope they can get the problem corrected!

Yea, that was my original choice. But too pricey for wallet. Got the Nittos for $680.00 shipped. But, of these 2nd set are bad I may go that route. Hopefully, it won't come to that.

Hey UK. Did your truck come out with 17's OEM? If so I put a set of them on my truck and could not get a balance after 5 different shops tried it. Not enough clearance between the wheel and caliper to put weights. So all they could do is balance one side of them and the ride was terrible.

That sucks, but at least they are taking care of you pretty good about the whole deal.

I worried about my wheel/tire combo with the Nittos, but I have absolutley ZERO vibrations, steering wheel nibbles, pulling...nothing, drives straight and perfect.
Besides the fact that they absolutley SUCK in any type of offroad conditions ( ) they are pretty nice tires.

Yeah I put my stockers back on and she rides like an 150 should again. Bought my aftermarkets 4/03. 3 months and $900.00 later the wheels are back at the company. Still no word on if they're gonna send me a set that will work. Lemons do happen but I even had to pay to have them shipped back after giving them proof that the wheels would'nt work. Wish you the best of luck.
