Not sure if this has been bought to the forum's attention.

Spend a few minutes and watch the clip.... enlightening.

Checked both my vehicles this morning and all were 06's. I bought them in 07 so they should be good. That would mean by the report that my tires were a little over a year old when I bought them new.

My brother stopped by this evening and we checked his wifes car. The tires are about half wore but by the code they are 02's. So we took it out to the garage and let half the air outta 1 and guess what?? Dry rot cracks. Small but they are there.

What do you do about buying tires online? I am getting ready to buy some Nitto TG's I'd hate to get some old rubber. Scary indeed!

Call before ordering and tell them you do NOT want tires shipped to you that were manufactured before date "X"

Also...

Most online order pages have a "comments" section just prior to the final checking out process. You can always reiterate through a posted reply - after calling them - of your concerns.

Print that page prior to submitting your order and get the persons name you spoke with so you have some ammo.... should the need arrise to return the tires due to the retailers failure to comply to your request.

Hope this helps.

just for sh*ts and giggles, i ordered my 35's through tire rack in March of this year not knowing of this. i still managed to get tires that were made within the third and fourth weeks of this year.

i would tell the online vendor that you will send them back if they were manufactured before the first week of 08, for example.
