nitto mg vs. toyo oc m/t

I will soon be runnin 35 inch tires and either 20 or 18 inch rims thanks to a body lift i bought. I really can't make up my mind on which of these two tires to go with. I know most people on this site are already biased to the toyo's but i really like the look of the nitto's much better. I have heard the nitto's really suck in the mud but I mean I'm just a 16 yr. old junior and the only time i'm in the mud is when I'm showin off in front of my friends or just havin a little fun. Which of these two tires do you think best suits me. Any input is appreciated.

Where is the cheapest place to buy a 35-12.50-18/20 nitto mg?

folks here like toyos because they are quieter than nittos and they are supposed to last longer as well.i heard the nittos are good in the mud but crap in sand,i havent tried them out yet.i have mud grapplers and i like em fine.they are loud but i expected that out of a mud tire, and they are the best looking mud tire out there.really aggressive.im not sure about wear.i was told if you rotate them they are fine.i only had mine about a month.i have no input on toyos other than that.

nitto mud graps are amazing in the mud the dig hard and get alot of traction in sand they dig to much wich causes you to feel like your sinking and i have had my truck since january and i have the nitto mud grap 37x13.50 and i have a grand total of 15,000 miles on my truck and the are already 3/4 of the way gone my dad has the toyos and he has about 10,000 miles on his truck and they havent even worn lol....ill prolly be going with the toyos or kumhos....maybe even the pitbulls i havent decided but at 400 a tire im going to think a little smarter this time around

nittos-loud and very aggressive...horrible wear...but good performance on and off the road

toyos-long life, quiet, decent looking, great on road performance ok perfomance off road... but all around high quality tire

kumhos- idk a thing about them lol

pitbulls-suppossedly really quiet for how agressive the tread is and decent life

The nittos look great but..unless you have over grand to blow on tires each year, i'd go with the toyos. The nittos will prob only last you around 20,000 and might start cupping eventually even if you rotate 'em. Plus the toyo looks pretty good too, especially on bigger rims like 20s.

btw, dirt bound i'm pretty sure the pit bulls are all bias ply, even their all terrain, so i'm not sure they would last much longer than the mud grappler. Those kumhos dont look bad at all though, just not sure how long they'd last.

good luck man

Difference

Nittos are about a 12k tire before they're so clapped out that you'll hate every minute of your decision to blow a g on tires.

I know no one who purchases these tires a second time.

Toyo
40k minimum...Best MT out period....But steep...If I could aford em i'd run em.

Be smart stay away from the Nitto.

12,000 miles? No way, maybe if you don't rotate them. Nitto advises that they be rotated every 3,000 miles because of their tread compound. I had them for ~18,000 miles and they still had quite a bit of tread. I'd say they are about 25,000 miles. The Nitto MGs are MUCH better in the mud. Sand they dig a lot but if you've got the a decent amount of power behind them they will get through it. I loved my Nitto MGs. They do have a little bit of "wobble" to them at crawl speeds on the road. Like around 1-5 mph they will bounce. Of course they were pretty loud on the highway and it does get annoying if you make long trips. I drove from Central Florida to North Georgia and it was hell. I wanted to get a set of ear plugs.

Toyos are about a 40,000 mile tire. They are great in the sand. Great on the road. Barely any noise and behave well on the road. Mud traction isn't that great, especially for a "mud terrain". Have you thought about BFG M/T KM2s?

For your application toyo's would probably be the better choice. Mud grapplers aren't as bad a tire as some people say. Yes there loud, but they look great and perform well off-road. They are everything they are supposed to be and with proper rotation and inflation 25,000-30000 miles shouldn't be a problem. Now with that said if you're looking for a tire thats good on-road, great off road, will last 40,000 miles if not more (very likely based on their old M/T and how mine and others are holding up) and not to mention just an awesome looking tread design-check out the BFG KM 2's. Also, I personally would stay with 18's if you're going with 35's, leave 20's for 37's or bigger, sidewalls are a good thing

Few pics of my truck

40,000 mile M/T! I'll definitely be looking into that!

IS the Toyo M/T you all are talking about the Open-Country M/T? Would I be able to put one on my stock 17" wheel in a 265/75/17?

Very true. I agree 18" maximum.

Thanks man . Anyway, 40000 miles out of a mud terrain isnt much of a miracle anymore. The toyo MT that is being talked about are the open country MT's. If you're looking into getting some muds I'd suggest trying out a set of BFG KM 2's (what i have on my truck) in 285/70R17 (33x11.5), or up to 35x12.5R17 with a leveling kit. If you're set on toyo's though they make plenty of sizes that would fit on your truck, with or with-out a leveling kit.

x2

A leveling kit and some 35s would look great on your truck with the stock wheels.

and doesn't discount tire or somewhere have a 40,000 mile warranty for the KM2s? that may be something to look into if the toyo MT doesn't have a warranty.

Don't forget to take a look at the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's! I have mine on for 5000 miles and they are showing absolutely no wear so far. And they are extremely aggressive looking for an all terrain.

the nittos are a cool looking tire for sure, but i could never own them. a good friend of mine has them on his truck (37x13.50) and they sound like a WWII bi-plane.
