Largest tire on a stock 18"

I am not having any luck with the search feature for some reason so here it is... I am looking at getting the chrome version of my lariat 2004 18" wheels. I am curious as to what size tire will fit on that 7.5" wide wheel. I am looking for a 33" diameter but just curious as to width. I am looking at something like the Nitto Terra Grapplers or something similar....aka more aggressive AT tire or weaker MT tire. They will be mostly on the street. Thanks in advance for the info.

I agree. 35x12.50-18 is the largest you can go.

I knew wandell would surface at some point to set me straight....So I would be able to put a 33 x 12.5 x 18 on a stock wheel I am assuming. Also, will a 33x12.50 fit in the original spare location? Thanks all for the info.

Yes, you can use 33x12.50's on the stock wheels.
I'm not sure about the spare tire fitment on the 04-08's but I'd guess a 33 would fit easily since some of the optional Ford tires are almost 33 inches tall.

Wandell, you had straightened me out on the 33x12.50x18's fitting on stock wheels. My new question is I just traded a fellow member for his Lincoln Mark LT Chrome wheels, the 8 spoke ones, will the 325/60 R18's fit on this wheel? I measured outside edge to edge on the wheel and its like 9" but most websites show them as 18x7.5 or 18x8. Thanks again all.

stock 18" rim

I am also ready to purchase LT285/75R18 {35x11.5R18} tires for stock 7.5" rims. Will they fit with no rubbing at full turn ?? If they do rub , is that okay for the tire ? I have a 2004 w/ 2.5" level kit by autospring. I am worried about snow and clearance at full turn while backing into my garage in the winter. Thanks.

Rims are measured from the inside, bead to bead, not outer edge to outer edge. That is why they are measuring large. If they are 8 inches wide, a 325mm wide tire my be ok. However, if you are gonna keep these wheels and use them, I'd stick with a 33x12.50 or slightly narrower.
Littlelary38, you will be fine with 285/75-18's. Who makes that size? I've never seen it.

I did a search (Google) on the 285/75/18's and it looks like Toyo makes some that size. They have the Open Country A/T and I think they have an M/T also. I'm not sure but I think they measure out at alittle over 34" high and around 11" wide. Should be a good fit on stock rims.
