Nitto TG on Factory 17" wheels

I have an 08 Regular cab (pics in gallery) with the 17" aluminum wheels and 255-65-17 tires. I plan on installign a 2.5 AS and 1 inch lift in back. My questions is what is the biggest Nitto TG I can safely fit on these wheels without issues? I want a beefier tire. Wider and taller without going with new wheels just yet.

If you have a 4x2, I'd stick with a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) or maybe a 295/70-17 (34x12.00). If you have a 4x4 you can go up to a 35x12.50 (315/70-17).

Good deal. I will take your advice and shoot for the 285/70-17 (33x11.50). That sounds about right for my style and the TG will look wider than the BFG AT too. Thanks.

You will be able to get 265/70R17 on your stock rims easily. That's a 32" tire. You will also be able to get a 285/70R17 (which is 33") without any problems. Anything bigger than that and your 17x7.5 OEM rims will be too narrow.

If you go to Discount Tire asking for the 285s they're going to tell you they won't fit.... They will.

The 285 or 295x70x17's ought to look great on a leveled 4x2, some have even run 315x70x17's on the stock 7.5 wide wheels with no problem's on a leveled 4x4.
