Another can I make em fit thread.

Guys, I have procomp 1079s 17x9 and 295 grapplers. I have the 2.5 AS level and need to find out if I can make 35 mud grapplers fit without serious rubbing issues?
The ofset of my wheels puts them a good ways outside the fenders. I am not afraid to do some trimming of inner fenderwells and bumper plastic so tell me if I even have a shot at it or will it just force me to put a 6" febtech on it after purchasing the tires? Mine is an Fx4

Thanks

Do you know the backspacing on your wheels? I really think you are gonna have to have more lift to install 35's regardless of the bs since they are 9 inches wide and the Mud Grapplers have such aggressive sidewall lugs. I'd either add a body lift or ditch the spacer and install a full 6 inch suspension lift.

Wandell , they are 4.5 bs so even trimming would be out of the question huh?
I will do a search on the body lifts and see exactly whats involved in doing it myself.

Thanks

looks like the 3" body lift might be the way to go.

I think you would need a sawsall to trim enough to fit that combo.

Question ??

i was about to start another thread but just read these replies...

so IF i am reading all this correctly, methinks my question has been answered.

What is the tallest tire one can fit with just a 2.5" leveler kit?? 34"??

i might do add-a-leaf or blocks on the rear but no more on the front...seems like the front is more where clearance issues are.

thanks all.

I believe the 1079s have the same 4.75" backspacing that my 1089s do, and those Mud Grapplers have an obscenely wide sidewall lug to them. Without that lug it would be a VERY tight fit if fit at all. I would NOT try Mud Graps in that size for that reason.

With a 17x9 4.75" backspacing wheel, the largest tire you are going to fit comfortably will be 305/70R17.

Depending on MFG, 35x12.50/17 MT MIGHT fit, but really should be test fit on the truck prior to spending the grande dinero...

I already answered this sort of. 305/70R17 (34x12.50) with an aftermarket 4.75" backspacing 9" wide wheel fits. I've seen it repeatedly, and plan on doing it myself. 35x12.50 MIGHT fit, but I am certain plastic trimming would be required. Metal trimming MAY come into play. But I have yet to see a current series F-150 with cut fenders... I don't want to be the first to try it, but if done right, I would imagine it would be hard to tell the fenders are cut.

I don't know about the '07, rumor has it the rear springs are shorter than the '04s, so you might end up needing an AAL to bring it level ish again... But you should not have trouble getting the tire to fit under the fender.

Any pointers on where to cut? I have yet to see anyone who has done it yet... That might not be a bad idea.

to fit 37s on my truck i the offroad shop near my house trimmed the front valence and then on the backside of the front fenders did some kind of weld that pulled the fender flare closer to the cab, but you cant tell it even moved. I dont rub at all and can throw up a full flex with it now.
