Question 35's vs stock fx4

hi im every1 im new at this forum so here we go

i just bought a fx4 supercab 4x4 07 i have it installed a 2" leveling kit, im thinking on installing 35x12.5 R18 KM2 beacuse they look sick on the trucls out there, but if i install this tire i still have garantee on my truck, will they damage or avoid any type of warranty on the dealer cause the size of the tire ???

i know that it will loss mpg and some hp i read some posts out there but what about any problems with my trany, gear ratio im going 2 leave them stock, do u have 2 change them or what ? I know they will suffer but what do u recomend ??

This tire is an additional option 305/65 R18 KM2.

thanks

If something breaks due to the non-OEM tires/wheels, it will not be covered. If a tie rod breaks, Ford may not cover it. If your radio stops working within 3y/36k miles, Ford will cover it. Most likely, nothing will break/wear out within 36k miles, but you may not be happy replacing ball joints 50k, or tranny @ 100k, etc. Larger/heavier tires accelerate wear on certain components.

As for gears, 4.56 if you are going to spend the $1k+ to swap them. Save money for better brakes too.

I have the setup that you are trying to get and It is great! The tires were $1181 installed at costco so I would definitely go there for the KM2's.

I wasn't aware they made a 34" KM2? Can anyone clarify on this?

They don't make a 305/65R18 but a 305/60R18 which is more like a 33x12.

Haven't had any problems at all since I've had mine on and I was the 1st member on here to have them on my truck. You'll lose a little bit of power but it's not bad at all, not anywhere near as bad as I'm sure your thinking. MPG I lost about 1-2 MPG depends on the driving. Go for it I'm sure you'll love em

it all depends on the dealer. where i take my truck, asked about a leveling kit, sure go for it was there response. any problems running 35's, nope was there answer. are you sure, yep. so it all depends. they said a happy customer keeps coming back and they get paid either way, so just find a mod friendly dealer. a fella that goes there has a super duty that hardly fits in the door and they cover all his warranty work too.

Sorry about the delay but to answer your question I had the tires mounted and my dad drove it home and said that it rode well. I am not sure how it will affect things yet but I will be home Tuesday for Thanksgiving break and will see how they do! I am going on an hour and a half trip too so I will try to report back in a week or two sorry I can't help with the answers now, but I am about 10 hours away from my truck The 2.5" put me about 1/2" up in the back still over the front I forgot what the actual height measurement was that I took when I installed it but I will try to post them once I get a chance to. The tires should be a good choice and I am very anxious to go try them out on and off road. From what my dad said so far the thing still pulls great and the tires are quiet. He did note that he could feel the lugs from a stop to about 5mph but that does not concern me at all. As for mpg, I have a heavy right foot so to speak.......so I don't think that my mpg readings would fair too well.

Oh and I forgot. The cv angles didn't look bad on mine either

The 35's take their toll in stop and go traffic, I get about 1 to 2 mpg less in town but on the highway I don't find them too bad. I've gotten up to 18mpg with them. Probably worth it in the look's dept.!

Warranty issues really depend on your dealer. Some are mod friendly, some are real a-holes. My dealer never said a word about my truck. In fact, they agreed to buy back my OEM 30 inch tires so I could purchase some 33 inch BFG's. Then I went to 35's last year and had some front end issues. They replaced my idler arm and all four ball joints under warranty with my 35's installed.
