Goodyear Wrangler RT/S Opinions

I have a 1992 Ranger 4x4 (leveling kit)work truck in need of new tires. I had originally planned on puting the Mickey Thompson MTZs on it but wanting to keep price down on the work truck, Ive been looking at the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S 235/75-15 tires. Anyone know anything about these tires? Thanks.

Yes, those were the oem tires on a lot of F-150's. THey are a very poor quality tire. There worse trait is wet pavement traction. THey do last forever so you can get plenty of experience hydoplaning/sliding on wet pavement.

Thanks for the input...the only experience Ive ever had with Goodyear tires are the ones on dad's Wrangler and they were horrible. Im leaning towards the Pirelli Scorpions. Any input about them? Thanks.

Firestone Destination A/T. Pretty cheap and I've heard great thigns about it. The Wranger RT/S is poor at best. Scorpians have high ratings @ tirerack, but the people here with the OEM 20's have a few problems with them one being not long tread life.

They have been good on my mom's Explorers, 96, 98 and 2000 4 dr's, but ya, rain was ho-hum for traction. Now remember, the 98 and 2000 had auto 4wd so I never got a good feel for wheel spin. A Ranger has to have good traction so maybe even BFG AT's or Goodyear Wrangler AT/S or Silent Armor. Michelin LTX M/S were a long lasting great traction (all season) type tire.

Yeah, there have been a lot of complaints on the 20 inch Pirelli's that come stock on the new F-150's.

Well I keep coming back to the same two tires....BFG AT KOs and the Mickey MTZs. I guess I will just buy one of these. I did notice 4Wheelparts is having a buy-three-get-one-free sale on the ProComp tires...are any of these any count? Thanks.

The new Xtreme AT's and Xtreme MT's are getting great reviews. The standard MT is a very good tire. The standard AT is a pretty average all terrian tire.

RT/Ss are OK tires. They arent the best mud/snow tire though. If it were me, Id pay a little more for Goodyear Wrangler AT/Ss. Thats what Ive got on my '99 F-150 and its pretty much unstoppable in the snow.

I've had Good Year Wrangler RT/S's on my truck for a year and a half and I'm getting them replaced.
They are OK tires for dry roads but not much more. I have had two of these tires cut to the rim (sidewall tears) while driving off road for work... but that was my fault; they are not meant for that.
Traction in winter, on wet pavement, on loose surfaces, etc. is poor, even when using 4x4.
Tread wear is excellent; the two original tires still having lots of thread after 120,000 Km.
I am putting on some larger (LT285/70R17) BFG A/T K/Os for winter and the offroading I need to do for work...
If you need road tires that last forever these should do... If you have winters where you live you probably need some winter tires as well.

Just my 2c... CAD that is
