Need new tires

First off I know not a lot about tires, so any genuine help would be appreciated. Stock ride height and all on truck listed above.

Currently running Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 265/75/16s. I really am happy with what I have been running but I mainly want a more aggressive look without sacrificing handling (especially in winter).

Questions are: Can I go any larger on my stock 16 rims? And, obviously, what do y'all reccommend out there?

I'm not one to do a summer and winter set, so, as stated above, winter performance has to be there as well. A buddy of mine just picked up a set of Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 which look pretty bad-arsed. I hear about toyos and grappler somethings so yeah... HELP! lol...

Thanks in advance all!

I put some 285/75/16 nitto terra grapplers on my 97 about 1/2 way through last winter. They performed great going through a foot or more of snow out on the lakes. Very happy with them so far.

I would suggest a set of 285/75-16 BFG AT KO's, Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo AT's or Pro COmp Xtreme AT's.

I would agree with the above choices, BFGs are near or at the top of the price range. I regret not going to 285s when I had the chance but money was an issue at the time. I put 255/70r16s Firestone Destination ATs on my 97 and I never had an issue with snow. 285 I think is about as big as you can go with the stock rims. You may or may not want to recalibrate your speedo/odometer if you go to a larger tire. Depending on the year you may be able to do it with a programmer. I know on my 97 I had to buy an $8 gear to replace the one in the speed sensor thingy under the truck next to the tranny.

Well if you can find someone who works for Firestone see if they can get you the Emp. discount coupon. A friend of mine worked for them at one of their plants here in Canada and he gave me his 60% off coupon.

Alrighty, right now based on looks and people's personal reccomendations, the nitto terra grapplers it is. Two more questions though...

1. 285/75/16 is the size I'm told will not only fit but look good. Meaning, no rubbing yet still look great. Correct? How far out (if at all) will the stick past the fenders? Again, stock susp. / ride height.

2. Ran across some 7-lug rims on ebay (anyone know where else to find some?!?). What size tire should I go with if I switch to 17s, and in everyone's opinion, is upgrading to a bigger rim a good idea or is it just gonna throw off my speedo and make me lose some power (I know that they look nice, but I donno if I can justify another $650-700 for rims)?

Thanks much all - I do appreciate it!

You don't have a very large selection of 7 lug wheel. Most aftermarket wheels will look better than the OEM wheels, but that is a matter of opinion. If you go with 17's, I'd suggest a 285/70-17 (33x11.50), 295/70-17 (34x12.00) or a 305/65-17 (33x12.50).
