Biggest tires on OEM 03 4x4?

I have a 2003 4x4 with OEM Goodyear Wranglers in 255/70/16. Whenever these tires are done I was thinking to put 265/75/16s back on. Anybody put any bigger tire on the factory wheel?

Thanks

315/75/16 (35x12.5") is THE largest tire you can fit under your stock truck suspension and on the OEM rims (safely), but I wouldnt do it because it looks a little stuffed and It will rub. I would suggest a 285/75/16 (33x11.5") for your set up. If you wanted a little bit bigger tire than the 285's, go with the 305/70/16 (33x12.5"). The 265/75/16's will look fine but I would go with the 285's. Hope this helps...

Thanks, that info does help a lot. So the 285/75/16 won't look stuffed or overinflated on the factory rim (7" I think)?

And another question...or two....I'm guessing that the 265's wouldn't make a big difference but how much would 285's affect gas mileage and the speedo?

When I went from 255/70-16's to 285/75-16's my speedometer was off 5 mph at 60 mph.

Well I had almost the exact same question so instead of starting a new thread:

I am about to get some new wheels/tires for my '02 FX4. I wanted to get bigger tires but I didn't want them to be stuffed under my stock suspension (which I don't plan on changing at the moment) so I was going to go with 265/70-17's on 17x9 wheels with 5" back spacing. After reading up on this issue I'm sort of leaning towards a 285/70 or even a 33x12.5, and I guess this is a matter of opinion but I just don't want it to look (proportionately) like the truck needs a lift.

Popov, I recently installed some 285x70x17 w/ 17x9 wheels on my '03 Supercrew FX4 and it looks good. Not sure of the back spacing, but all I had to do is trim about 1"-2" off my front air-dam. I'd post some pics, but it's saying I'm not allowed to post attachments .
