BFG A/T KO tires (305/65-18) stock rims

I know this has been asked alot, but I just want to get this straight. Most guys say that I can fit these tires on the stock ('07 King Ranch supercrew) 18 inch rims and that is what I would like to do. I like the looks of the stock rims and would love to save the $1K I would have to spend on new wheels. So, here's the deal. The guy who is putting on my 4" Rancho lift says the tires won't fit and that he won't do it because of safety issues. I'm kind of stuck because he is one of the few shops around here (Wisconsin) that will install the lift and I'm just not quite sure what to do. Any advice? Should I just forget the stock rims and buy aftermarkets that "fit" the tires or should I push the issue with the shop? What do I tell the shop owner when he says it's "not safe"? Thanks.

I'd just take them somewhere else to get mounted up then. My KR is suppose to be in tomorrow (hopefully), and I have a new set of 305/65R18's waiting at the dealer for me. They haven't said anything about not wanting to mount them for me. I can't wait to see pics of yours setup after everything is done. I see you decided to stay "legal". Probably the wise choice in the long run.

I have been running them on my stock rims since the begining of Dec. i think that I have close to 6 or 7 thousand miles on them with zero problems, no irregular wear, or nothing they ride great, and most of my miles are higway miles and Im going like 70-75 and have zero issues, see discount did not want to put them on, and I told them I bought you are not liable I will sign something saying that I know of the risk, I signed the paperwork saying that I knew that the tires were not the right fit and they put them on, They only do this cover their ***, That is way their computer says that the biggest tire we can fit is the 275/68/18, which is funny, I do not know what to tell you besides that I know that tons of people run those tires on their stock rims and I have not heard of one problem.

Isn't the difference only like 1/2 inch in width with the 305/65-18 tires and the stock rims?

I did decide to stay legal with the 4" rather than the 6" lift. I'd much rather have the 6", but I don't EVER want to have to have the discussion with the highway patrol guy. Also, the guy doing the lift says that I should put the fender flares on so that the tires "fit better". I think he's just blowing smoke since with the lift I should be able to clear 35's and these tires are essentially 34's from what I've read. (I may do the flares anyways just because they look cool, not because I need to to clear the tires.) I've been watching anxiously to see when you get your truck. I will probably order mine next week once I see what the new rebates are going to be and I'm curious to see how long it really takes to get the truck built and delivered.

You will be perfectly fine with your stock rims and the 305s...if he won't mount them for you then find another shop.

Also, you certainly won't need fender flares either because your stock rims won't stick out. Good luck with everything.

Is backspacing an issue with the stock rims and the bigger tires?

The issue is the OEM wheels are 7.5 inches wide and BFG recommends at least an 8 inch wide wheels. I agree, you will be fine with 305's and the OEM wheels.

Check the Rancho requirement's for wheel width, sometimes with a suspension lift you may have to use wider wheels, say a 18x9. Maybe that's why he won't mount them.

I went to my dealer the other day to investigate why my truck is not shipped yet, and to make my day the salesman showed me my 305/65R18's sitting in the middle of the shop floor. Man, do those things look mean. I picked one up and damn that thing was heavy. It's going to look awesome though.

I got them on my stockers. Check out my gallery. They are a great tire and there is no rubbing issues at all. They told me that they would not fit but I told them to put on anyway and there is no problems Good luck
