Best wet weather tire??
Best wet weather tire??
Looking for a 275/70/17 tire that will have good traction in wet weather for my 05 Screw 4x4. I have Pro Comps now and they are not cutting the mustard. Anyone have any ideas? This tire would only be driven on road. Thanks.

I have the Michelin LTX M/S, excellent wet weather tire.
The biggest 17" they make is 265x75x17.

I agree the BFG ATs are okay in wet, but I have found the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S are better on wet road. The BFG's are better in snow. Difference in tread with the BFGs being a bit more aggressive.
That's why I use the Goodyears in summer and the BFGs in winter.

If you go to the Tire Rack web site, they actually rate the various tires against each other on many different aspects - including wet traction. I'm sure we all have our personal opinions, but having an independent (sort of) source rate all tires on the same scale has got to be better.
On the work vans we always run michelin ltx a/s except one which has the michelin ltx m/s cause they were out of the a/s and it needed tires. They are all great tires but the m/s does much better in mud and a little better in the wet. I looked for the ltx m/s for my f150 but they don't make it in the 265/55/17 so I got the bridgestone dueler revo and I am very happy with them. My fiance has a horse and we took the truck the other day after it had been raining pretty good and I got through mud and ruts the crappy stock continentals would have just spun (i am 2wd with an open diff). steering is much more responsive and it just feels a lot better and tighter.
Depending on how many miles I get out of these dueler revos I am going to stick with them.

I'll stick with these for now - already putem to the test during a hard rain on the e-way . I was the only one on the outside (4 laner -left two lanes vacant) Had the cruise on with the trigger finger ready to disengage - they earned my trust that day with everyone else must have been hydroplainning.
I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers and I couldn't be happier. I've driven on the BFG's (very nice), the Goodyear AT/S (horrible after 20k), ProComp AT (OK), and now the Nitto's (excellent). Its been a long while between the BFG's and these but these really feel like they stick in the wet conditions, much better than either the ProComp or the Goodyear. Hope this helps.
Keep in mind the Goodyear Fortera's are redesigned tire - another thing to keep in mind they were voted #1 on Tire Racks tests - 2nd was the duelers(very good as well) when I purchased these 2 months ago.
The only place that had both the Duelers & Fortera's on the showroom floor was Discount Tire, they came out neck and neck for awhile there as far as testing goes - but , the other tire places I went to didn't even have them, WTF? , they did say "yeah , we can get them " LOL..GEEEEEZZZ...
Nitto's are great, I really can't remember where they ratings where back then.
Best bet is just to go to thetirerack.com yourself and check them all out.
