Steel wheels???

Im a high schooler and dont have the big bucks to get expensive rims and tires. I found some Cragar wheels with a black powder-coat finish for pretty cheap. The only thing is that the wheels are steel. I know alloys are better for the rust factor, but how would these do when it came to holding up and keeping the finish? They would only see off-roading occasionally, and I'm thinking the black powder coat would help out too, but I'm not real sure. Thanks for the help.

I had 2 sets of steel wheels for 90 F150. These were the argent (silver) painted wheels. I had them 8 years and and put 160+ k on the truck. Only I did was get spray cans of the argent paint from Ford and touched them up occasionally.

i'm also in the same boat here, i have an '03 f150 4x4 sport, with the oem rims which are 17's. one question is the truck weighs in around 6500 lbs would 15's cragar steel rims be strong enough to hold this much weight?? and do you think going from 17's to 15's would look good?? thx for ne ones help.

I have read here that 15" won't fit.

I've got factory 16" on my truck and it is so tight I can't get a finger in the gap between brake and rim.

15 inch wheels won't fit over your brakes. That is why you don't see wheels smaller than 16 inches in our 5x135mm bolt pattern.

So will the 16x8 Cragars fit over the brakes on my 2000 F150 4x4? This talk of the 15's not fitting is scarring me a little .

Will the 16x8 fit over my brakes on a 2000 F150 4x4? Also, what is the difference in weight going from OEM 17x7.5 to Cragars steel 16x8? Anythign dramatic?

So would 16x8 Cragars fit over my brakes? I would like to order them soon for x-mas and would like to make sure. I don't want them to be anything too tight, how do you guys think they will look and fit ?

I'm planning on going with some BFG All Terrins with them.

Anyone? I'm pretty sure some of the 97-03 models came with OEM 16 inch wheels, but I just want to make sure 16's will fit before I go ahead and drop the money on them.
