305/70/17 vs 315/70/17 Also, will 315's fit on stock lift

What is the difference between the two?

Might not be able to put the 3" body lift on the truck before I get the new tires. Question for you all, will the 315/70/17's work on a stock height truck with cranking the torsion bars, and trimming the valence?????? Also what's the difference between the 315's and 305's

the 305 is 33.81 tall and 12.24 wide basiclly a 34x12.50

the 315 is 34.36 tall and 12.72 wide basiclly a 34X13.00

I would have to say your going to need a body lift on an 2003 if you want the either, but wandell is the resident expert I can say he will give you the answer

I've seen 305/70/17's ran on an 03 Screw with the T-bars cranked and it looked good and i've seen a few people run 35's with the T-bars cranked but with a little rubbing.

Thanks for the replies guys, I remember when I was looking at tires for rims I was going to get which were 16x10's but now am sticking with the stockers. Anyways Wandell recommended a 315/75/16.....if you say the 315/70/17 can be run with cranking the torsion bars, and trimming the valence then I think I would go ahead and do it, just I thought they were 35's, guess you can't fit a true 35" tire under there eh?

Ok, here is also the deal....

305/70/17 -- They offer the Goodyear Wrangler MTR which is a good 50k mile tire, and good offroad and on so I'm told. Also, the tire looks mean and aggressive.

315/70/17 -- Goodyear All Terrain TA KO

Also, the goodyear Wrangler AT Extreme--Both are classified as off road all terrain. How is this tire, and there is no picture how does it look....

Anyways, what's my best bet going to be. I want a nice 35" tire, and ve it look aggressive, and want a great offroad tire too. Just looking around....decisions decision.....

Tires are going to be bought tonight, my one tire is now leaking air so I guess it's only forced the time to buy new ones. How are the Mickey Thompsons

315/70 is basically a 35x12.50 and 305/70 is basically a 34x12.00.......

From everything I have heard that MT MTZ is a good tire. You can fit those 315's stock with the t-bars cranked and trimming some of the valence, it just usually isn't recommended for the long haul, so if you are planning on getting a body lift in the near future you can do it and you will be fine. The BFG AT KO is a great tire, it is less aggressive than the MTZ but has good off-road manners and you will get more miles out of them.
