Lightbulb 2.5 with 35's

I know there has been much talk about this and i have found some trucks on the site that have this done on OEM rims..
I just ordered the autospring 2.5, and now looking for 35x12.5's . am i limited on brands due to rubbing and fitment on OEM rims or can i go with a nice mud tire. I dont use my truck as a daily driver so im not to worried about uneven tread wear but more about rubbing..
All help is appreciated..

it all depends if you have a 4x2 or 4x4. If you have a 4x4 you can get away with 35's but if you have a 4x2 you can only do 33's unless you add a body lift or suspension for additional clearance.

Right. Also, do you have 17 or 18 inch wheels?

you should be fine- when you are looking make sure you stay (within an inch-inch.5 ) to the suggested rim width- ie, tire-A 35x12.5 approved for rims 8.5-10" stock is 7.5" that'll work. tire-B 35x12.5 approved for 9.5-12" rim thats 2" off the stock 7.5's and not exactly a safe bet...

05BLUE150,
If you have 17" factory rims +the AS 2.5" then you can put 315/70R17 BFG A/T on with minimal issues. I have that exact set up on my '06 SCrew and the only rubbing I had was on the drivers side inner (black) fenderwell ~ that was easily resolved by trimming 1" off of the bottom edge towards the back of the truck using a boxcutter knife. It only rubbed when I had the wheel turned full right while backing up. I'll try to post a few pictures of my truck...

Thanks for the info, i am looking for a more aggressive look then the BGF A/T's but i will keep an eye out for the 315's. That is the same tire as a 35x12.5?

A 315/70-17 is the same as a 35x12.50-17. If you want something more aggressive, the Pro Comp MT is available in 35x12.50-17 and the Goodyear MTR is available in 305/70-17 (34x12.50-17).

ive got the Xterrains on my stockers right now- they are wearing perfect @ 40 psi front and back, and overall wear is minimal so far 7,000 miles on them-mixed use. they are louder than the toyo mt's (all i can compare to) but not obnoxious by any means
edit to add- Mine are the 3ply sidewall though i'm on 18's

bigger tires

I have stock 18" FX4 rims I want the biggest tire I can fit on them. Am I looking at a 305/65/18, 315/18 or 325/18. BTW I have leveled the front I think 2" with some car quest coil inserts.

ok, you've got the FX4 wheels, but are you an FX4? lol

if you are a 4x4, you can fit 35's on the stock wheels with a 2-2.5" spacer
if you are a 4x2 with fx4 wheels, you can fit 33-34" with a 2-2.5" spacer

Yes I have the FX4 wheels on a real FX4 truck. I'm just torn between 325's or 305's. One is wider and one doesn't lose as much perf. Maybe that tuner I want is gonna be more important after all.

anyone try 35x12.50 on the 20" OEM rims? the new 20" OEM rims are 8.5" wide.. would that be better or worse for rubbing issues with 35"'s??
