35's with AS 2.5

Does anyone know if its possible to put 35x12.5x18 on the oem rims on a 2006 4x2 with only a2.5" as leveling kit and 1.5" rear blocks or do i need the BL before i do this? I found a set of nice tires i want but they are the 35's and am wondering if its possible for me to put them on my truck now, since i am not doing the bl for another few months. If not then what dimension 33" tires would be best for this situation? Thank you.

No, you will need the body lift also. The members running 35's with a leveling kit and OEM wheels have 4x4 trucks which are about 2 inches taller than your 4x2. You could use a 33x12.50-18 or a 285/65-18 (33x11.50) tire.

Thank you very much Wandell. I knew i could count on you. I am getting close to getting everything done, i ordered the 2.5" autosprings and am installing it next weekend, and am still looking into rear blocks, i have heard since its a 4x2 i need the actual ford blocks because the pins are different in them for some reason, so i am waiting to find 2" blocks, if not then im ok with just the AS right now, and im getting new tires within the next week or so, and then its just the BL and i am done!

Is this height just due to the rear blocks, or is there more to it than this, because i thought that the 2.5 would atleast give me enough clearance in the front for 35" tires on the oem rims. If this is true, whats stopping the back from fitting them without a body lift? I am only asking because i found a great deal on the nitto terra grappler 35x12.5x18 and want to get them if i can but dont have the money to do the lift. My other option is just buy the tires and hold them for a few months until i can do the lift, but as we all know, when it comes to trucks we want it done now, because its no fun to be sooo damn close and not have it all done, i dont just want the 2.5" AS kit on, i want everything! So let me know, it just seems that there should not be a problem if i added rear blocks, but im sure there is more to it than just this. Thank you again!

The difference between the 4x4's and 4x2's is different coilovers and the 2 inch block.

Personally, I think the coilover swap isn't cost effective. I mean, a Leveling Kit is about $100. I don't think you can find coilovers for anywhere near that price. My understanding is you can only expect 2 inches of lift out of 4x4 coilovers anyway. It may be okay if you had someone give you a set of OEM 4x4 coilovers for free.

ok thats perfect. I ordered the as 2.5" lift anyway and am putting it in this weekend. I guess i will buy the tires if i get them cheap enough and hold them until i install the bl 3". I would love to raise the back up a few inches but i havnt been able to find 1.5 or 2" blocks as easily as expected, because i heard i need actual ones made for the ford because i have a 4x2. I dont know if its true or not, because i found a 1.5" block kit with u bolts for like 35$ but i was told it would not work due to the pins?

I really don't know about the rear lift blocks. I believe some members have installed OEM Ford 4x4 lift blocks, but I'd be afraid to ask what they cost.

I was afraid to ask too but i stepped up and asked, and they are around 90$ for a block that should be about 35 or 40$ so i guess thats what you get for OEM products, and for buying a 4x2 i guess. Oh well, i may leave it without the rear blocks, the only reason i may need them is that i tow a boat and may need the lift so my back end doesnt sag. Is there any noticable visual difference adding the 2" rear blocks, or will it be more for just practical purposes.

Two inches will make a difference. Measure you truck and then jack it up 2 inches in the rear to get and idea.

awesome, and i have heard the 2.5" AS kit only gives you about 2" is this true, after the settling. I am just trying to figure out my end clearance. I am doing the as in front and rear blocks in back 2" and then a 3" BL along with 35" Nitto terra grapplers. so im figuring almost 7 inches, but that seems like a lot, which i like, it just doesnt seem i could get that much for not that much money and time, but im not complaining. If i do the blocks also, are they an easy install like the AS up front?
