Biggest M\Ts on stock FX4 rims?

Hey guys, new to the board, which by the way looks great, and tons of members which is always great as well. I've got an 05 FX4 F150 and I'd really like to throw on bigger M\T tires to fill out the gap while still utilizing the stock 18" rims without having to do any major modifications. I've searched a couple of boards and I've gotten unclear results. I've heard that 33's would fit, however, I also know that 18" is sort of an odd sized rim, so I'm really having a hard time finding an M\T tire that'll fit on my stock rims without any fitment problems. If a leveling kit is necessary then I'd probablly just get it, but if not then that would be great.

thanks...

From what I've seen 33 will fit on your stock truck. If you want to go bigger you will need at least a leveling kit. With a leveling kit you can fit 35 on your stock wheels.

33's are what im running- you can do 35's but beware that you are pushing the width a bit and will have to run at lower psi's to keep them wearing evenly- and lower psi on muds=lower mpg's

First off, thanks both of you for a quick response, I've asked questions on other forums and haven't got a single reply going on 2 weeks now.

Balog, your truck looks awesome, what you did to your truck is exactly what I want to do to mine right now until I get my lift and new wheels. Are you running the 33x12.50R18 Open Country?

thanks again guys!

You can go with a 305/70/17 which is a 34 with a leveling kit without any rubbing. You may get some uneven wear after a while if you keep them on your stock rims but they look good. I don't have any uneven wear on mine after 9 months but I do expect it once they start wearing down a lot.

Hey Professor!

So with the 305's you do not have any rubbing? That is nice to know. I have a 97' f150 with the 4x4 offroad package. My truck without a leveling kit sits pretty as level as could be expected. Do you think that I throw some 305 meats on them I would need a leveling kit? I would be curious to find out because I would hate for my baby to be out of commission without any shoes!

Well on the 97-03 F-150 you just have to crank the torsion bars. NO leveling kit needed. As for you fitting 305's, I really dont know. One of my friends mom has some 305/70/17 buckshot mudders like mine on her '03 supercrew with the torsion bars cranked and she has no rubbing. Not sure if you would have any rubbing though. I dont think you would have any rubbing but you never no.
