One size fits all rear e-brake cable?

I need a new rear drivers side e-brake cable on my 01 Superscrew 4x4 w/ 4 wheel disc. The local parts store did not have one in stock so they ordered me one but it is quite a bit different that the stock one. I am looking on Advance's site and they have 1 cable for all wheelbases:
Rear Left Cable: 120", 139", 157" Wheel Base, Rear Disc Brakes.

The new cable is a good bit longer than the OE cable. Also, there is no place on the end to hook onto the e-brake itself and there is no spring. How on earth does this cable work?

I know that NAPA has these, or can get them, but, I've found that OEM Ford is usually the cheapest and is always a dirrect fit.
