Question Nitto Terra Grapplers?

Ok, so question. I've been told by at least one person that I can remember that Nitto Terra Grappler 325/60 R18s will fit under a stock 05 4x4 (as they're basically 33/12.50s, just a bit wider). The real question here is can anyone confirm this from personal experience? And if so what are are your personal opinions on this setup? I'm looking for a setup that won't rub at max. wheel angle or over rough terrain. Pretty much a drop-in replacement without any worries. Any input is appreciated, or other suggestions on drop-ins without worries.

The 04-06's that I have seen with 325/60-18's were all 4x4's with one of the 2.5 inch leveling kits up front. They were also using 18x9 inch wheels with 5 inches of backspacing. So, I know that combo will work. Also, the 325/60-18 is closer to a 34x13.00 than a 33x12.50, which means they are too wide to use on the OEM 18x7.5 inch wheels so you really need aftermarket wheels.

Take a look at Thumpermx113's gallery. He's running that setup with Helo Maxx-6's and the 2.5 in. daystar up front. He saaid he had to do some minor trimming but nothing major.

The 325 is the width of the tires tread in millimeters. It has nothing to do with height. The second number in the size refers to height. For instance, BFG makes a 325/60-15 AT KO that is a 31x13.00-15 tire. The 325/60-18's are basically a 34x13.00-18. A 325/65-18 would be a 35x13.00-18.

Over the weekend I put on 325/60R 18 Nitto's and they do rub. Mine are mounted on 18'' Eagle Alloy 178. The rub is very minor. The 325/60R 18 are actually 33X13.

What's weird is that Toyo and Nitto both make a 325/60-18. One lists it as a 34 and the other list it as a 33. Even weirder is that Nitto and Toyo are part of the same company.

question for torphill

have you done any shaving on your 325/60/18 with eagle 178 setup or is it manageable? i'm thinking of same combo but do not want any rubbing...i realize there will be some with this setup so i guess the question is how much do you have any regrets? thx!

Your truck is completely different than the 04-06's.

Tire size ?? Backspacing is the key

Tomorrow I will put on the Nitto 325/60/18 on 18 x 9.5 Teflon coated black American wheels. As we all know the tire will do a lot of different things on a wider or narrower wheels, but don't forget that the backspacing places the whole setup in the right or wrong place in respect to the other parts...
fenders, brakes, frame, etc...

Lets see if my guy has it right and I'll take a picture at the end of the day after the installation...also the tires are marked with the factory sticker as both 325/60/18 and 34/13.00/18 ...

325/60 - 18 will rub the aluminum control arms. The BF Goodrich makes a 285/65-18 that is a little bigger but not by much. Nittos and Toyos look great though and they are a more aggressive pattern. Almost anything will fit with patience, ingenuity, and alot of money.

Well 2 of the wheels came in damaged so I wont know untill Monday !!
He has the backspacing set so the tires will be about 2" out of the wheelwells, should be ok w/ fender flares. Hopefully they wont rub in the wheel wells accept perhaps at hard lockout turns. Ill be sure to post when it is done...

Ok Check out the formula for checking tire sizes: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
The 325/60/18 are actually 33.4" and the 285/65/18 are smaller at 32.6"

I am going with 325/60/18 Toyo Open Country but of course I have the 2.5" Kit on my truck and stock FX4 wheels and they will fit the wheels just fine.
