Without doing anything you can fit 33's but if you crank up the torsions bars you may be able to fit 35's but you'll have a little rubbing. I know someone who has their torsion bars cranked and they have 305 maxxis buckshot mudders and have no rub at all. Those tires are 33.9 inches tall.

I run 305/70R17 Maxxis Bighorn Mudders on my 2000 F-150 4x4 with nothing but the torsion bars cranked and I have no rubbing. The professor said his friends tires were 33.9 however mine measure an even 34 inches (that 1/10 makes a lot of difference when you are looking for bragging rights ). I have seen a girl in my hometown who is running a BFG 315/70R16 A/T on her 99 4x4 expy with no lift and no rub although I imagine it would have to rub if she were to take it offroad because in heavy offroading situations I have had mine bump the plastic valance.

Yeah, you can run 315/70-17's (35x12.50) by using the OEM 17x7.5 inch wheels. However, this is really pushing it. I would stick with 33's unless you plan on lifting the truck in the near future.

I am planning to run on 35 inchers as well without lifting my truck immediately. I plan to add on the lift a few months after buying the tires (after I save more money). So from previous posts, this is possible? Do I need to crank the torsion bars? How is this done? Do I need to regear? I will not be using my truck for off-road often... Maybe once a year only and only on rough dirt roads at most. Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can fit 35's on the stock wheels. Regearing would be a great idea. What engine, tranny and gears do you have. You may be alright if you have a 5.4 with 3.73 gears.

I have a 2003 F150 Supercrew Lariat 4.6L. I have no idea what gears I have but I really want 35" on my truck. If I need to re-gear, what gears should I consider?
I was thinking of getting 15x10 rims (AR Baja) and mounting the 35" on them. But I read somewhere that with the change in overall tire size, it will be advisable to upgrade brakes. I found break upgrades by Stillen but they require at least 18" rims. Are there 35" tires that can me mounted on 18" rims? Do I really need the brake upgrade?

A brake upgrade would be a good idea but not absolutely necessary. With a 4.6 you will probably want to regear with 35's. Also, a 15 inch wheel will not fit over your stock brakes. You need to go with 16 inch or larger wheels. As for 18 inch off road tires there are a ton available. Heck, they even make off road tires for 22 and 24 inch wheels.
