I have 285/60/18 Falken STZ01 tires on my 02 Screw. What pressure do you recommend for the front and rear so I can prevent wearing out the center section of the tires due to overinflation? They were on the truck when I bought it and I felt it would be a waste of time to ask anyone at the dealer.
What do you think?

 

Driver's door jam should be pretty accurate, I'm guessing 30-34psi. Or, check what they pressure they have now and drop by 3-4psi.

Yes, same (or close) pressure for your tires. What does your door say? I'm only familiar with 4WD F-150's.

 

The door sticker says:
275/60/R17
Front 30 PSI cold
Rear 32 PSI cold

Quite a bit difference from the tires that are on it now with a max load inflation pressure of 51 PSI.
So what would I do here?

 

Max pressure rating on any tire does not mean one should inflate their tires to (or close to) the max. It means that the tire load limits are rated at that pressure. Most people do not laod their vehicles to require that much weight every day, so the pressure should be dropped to a compromise of load, handling, tire wear, and ride. I'd stick to the driver's door jam numbers, especially since you have center tire wear.

 

Thanks, that's what I thought I should do. I have never run tires at their max pressure because I do know it will wear out the center. I think around 32-35 PSI should be okay.

 

Reloader, you didn't mention what load range of tire was on originally and what the new ones are. From the PSI, I am guessing that the OE tires were P tires and the new ones are LT load range C. If so I would start at about 36. May even have to go as high as 40.
