BFGoodrich All-Terrians

I have a stock height 2001 F-150 Supercab. I hate the look of these stock wheels. I want to buy some BFGoodrich All-Terrian tires and keep them on the stock rims (if possilbe) mainly I just want to give the truck a more beefy, off-road look. I do some off roading (mudding up in the cuts with friends) What size tire is the biggest I can fit in the wheel wells with out doing a lift? I may be able to do a 3" Body lift in the future. what size can i fit with the lift?

285/75/16 or 285/70/17 for stock wheels

Right, if your truck is a 4x4. With a 3 inch body lift you can fit 315/75-16's or 315/70-17's. Both of those are 35x12.50's.

IIRC the biggest you can fit on a stock 2x4 is 265s...

I disagree. My truck came with 275/60-17's. I don't want or need bigger tires, but there is room for more rubber if you got the gearing to turn them.

Check out my black 2000 F-150 Supercab with 285/70-17 BFG All-terrains. They fit nice with out a lift, don't think anything bigger will fit with out rubbing front mud flap when turning though.

May I suggest looking at the bfg mud terrains, since that is your intended purpose for the tires. The 265 is the biggest tire I would recommend going with on your 2wd. If you get the body lift, you can go with 285's or 305's.

RockyJSquirrel, the reason you can fit 275's is because those are 60 series tires and street treads to boot. A 60 series is considerably shorter than a 70 or 75 series tire.

There wont be very much room up front with 285/75/16s...he would probably be rubbing pretty good.
Also it would completely fill the wheel wells, but thats up to him if he wants that look or not.
