35s on an 88 f150

i am new to this site and new to trucks. but i am trying to find out if i can make 35s fit on an 88 f150 with a 3 inch body lift. it has 31s stock so i think its doable with only 3 inches of body lift. if this is easy to do could 37s be made to fit with only 3 inchs of lift.

With fender trimming, you could fit 35's, but that's about the only way. It would take major fender trimming to fit 37's with a 3 inch lift. I would recommend going with a 33/12.50/15 with a 3" lift. They will give you the best fit under the fenders and still leave room for the tire to tuck in the fender when the suspension articulates. It would take a suspension lift to fit 35's good, and a suspension plus body lift to fit the 37's good in my opinion. That's one thing the chevy's this model had on the fords was better fender clearance for larger tires. Hope this helps, and if I need to be corrected on this, please feel free to point me in the right direction.

Will you be running stock gears? What is your stock gear ratio? Whatever it is, if you are running stock gears you are going to be putting considerable stress on the engine and tranny along with a major loss in power. 37's will be even more severe. The parts you will break running that large of a tire will most likely pay for the 33's many times over. Just in my opinion.

with 3.55's you are going to have the problems I told you about. If you are going to run a 35 or larger, I would suggest at least a 4.10 and preferrably a 4.56 or 4.88. By the way, what engine do you have; 300, 302, or 351? Auto or manual?

I would strongly suggest you either regear then or run 33's. That 302 is going to be bogged down with those big tires unless you have some horsepower adders (do you?) and that auto tranny isn't going to take much stress for long. I am assuming you are going to be truly wheeling this truck offroad, right. If you are, then it would be in your best intrest to regear, and while you're at it, put you in a locker in the rear. You might want to post your queston about the add-a-leaf and nes front springs in the suspension section in this forum. There are a lot of knowledgable guys in that section that could tell you all about lifts for your truck.

I had an 88 Bronco with a three inch suspension lift and 33's were the best fit I may have been able to clear 35's but it would have rubbed a little bit. The suspension lift's for that aren't that expensive.

The four inch suspension lift for your bronco is only four hundred thirty five. I am pretty sure that would work to clear 35's
