tire size?

I have a 2002 2wd F-150 extended cab 16 inch wheels. Tire tread is almost done with in my opinion. Not really comfortable driving it once it gets cold. The tires suck in the rain and the tires squeal all the time. I am looking to put a 3 or 4 inch body lift on the truck and i want bigger tires to put on the stock wheel. I want something more aggressive on there because the weather in hampton roads is weird at times. Any suggestions on what size?

Nobody makes a 4 inch body lift for your truck, so you are stuck at 3 inches. Since you say you want to use your stock wheels, I'd suggest a 285/75-16 (33x11.50). You would probably be better off with a quality all terrian tire like the BFG AT KO, Bridgestone Dueler AT, Nitto Terra Grappler or Toyo Open Country AT.

i was thinking about putting the bridgestone dueler a/t revo 285/75/16 on my 2wd f-150. should i put the 3 inch body lift on it first. Will it look goofy when it is all done? Should i put a suspension lift on it to? I haul alot of crap and i hate the sagging on heavy loads and the no grip on the tires so I need it fixed. Plus the truck sits low to me for the work i do.

I am running those exact tires on my 97 F150 with no lift and no clearance or rubbing issues. I think the tires are great, but as far as the lift goes, if you are going with the lift I would go with something a little bigger in my opinion. The 285 on my truck looks just right, so with a 3" lift you might go with maybe a 305 or if you can fit it (with a lift I think you should) a 315. Unfortunately, that would rule out the Duelers in your tire selection because the biggest you can get them in is a 285.

oh, sorry! I just noticed you have a 2wd, not a 4wd. The 285 is what you would need, and yes, I recommend the Revo's!

I have seen people mount 285/75-16's on stock 4x2's, but it is an extremely tight fit. You could mount the tires first because they will fit, barely. I'd try to install the lift first. A 3 inch body lift will put you at about the same height as a stock 4x4. Here's a pic of my 4x4 at stock height with 285/75-16 BFG AT KO's on 16x10 Eagle Alloys. THis will give you some idea of what your truck will look like after the lift.

If I were you I would put 285/75R16 BFG All Terrains on some 16x8 rims. Get them mounted and them have them to put on when you get done the lift. But bar none get the all terrains. I have been through all different kinds of tires on several of my trucks. I have had BFG M/T's, Dueler Revo's, Goodyear MT/R's, Goodyear RT/S's, and BFG All Terrains. For the money, they are the best tires. All over their the best tires.
