Question Advice on my 2001 F-150 4X4 Off-Road? I want wider!!!

Does anyone know what my best bet is on my truck? Please, check my sig. I also have cranked torsion bars. I definately want something wider, and maybe taller. I looks like I hardly have any room now with my wheels turned, but who knows. What is my biggest size, and the best choice for my needs? I rarely go off road, but I still want aggressive tread. Who makes an awesome tire, that isn't outragous? THANKS!!!

I have 00 f-150 off road, just put 305\70-16 on 16x10 weld outback rims.Looks hot. But,had to slide bumper forward so the tires would clear air dam. Think I went to wide. Should have went with 285/75-16.

Sounds like it. How in the hell did you move your bumper forward? I have the 17's too. Thanks.

Just find a solid tree, and use a come-a-long. That pulled mine forward enough to clear Actually, I think somebody hit a cow or something and bent my bumper in a little.

A friend of mine owns a body shop and we used body repair shims. They are U shaped. We loosened the bumper brackets and the bumper at the brackets and placed two 1/8" shims on each bolt.We lined the bumper back up and tightened it up.I'm not going to lie, it was a pain. You should have 3 people to make it easier. Don't remove bumper and if you have factory fog lamps there should be plenty of wiring harness to spare. It's not a cure all but they don't rub when I turn on pavement anymore. If you got it in a bind I'm sure they mite rub.

I have the 285s. You may want to consider the 295 tire size. it is like 2mm taller, but 10mm wider than the 285s.

Depending on whether you want to lift the truck or not, tires can vary. I have a 3" body lift, 2" worth of torsion bar lift, and i'm fitting 315/75R16's with plenty of room to clear. I suppose if you took off the 3", and just hsa the torsion bar lift, I'd recommend the 305/70R16 or the 295/75R16. The 295s are slightly taller but less wide. BFG makes an all-terrain in the 295, and maybe a mud terrain? i dont remember that one, but the new radial baja claws come in a 305/70R16 and they are awesome, just a little noisy. I am runnng ProComp Muds and i love them, not too noisy with an aggressive tread. they come in almost every 15,16,and even a 33x12.50x17 size, except the 295. Hope this helps...peace...

Cool, thanks. Deezer, it was on the little yellow card that the dealer gives you when you tell them you have the A-Plan. All cars / trucks have them.

I would go with the 305's if you don't want a lift.

P.S. Still looking for the code reader at a local KC rental shop. I'll let you know!

I live north... Gladstone area. Just got the Crew last week. You'll be seeing me

As far as mods, haven't done anything to the headlights - its just the picture. The planned console mod is replacing the stock, short console with a full length expedition console. Very nice!
