What size tire will fit with a 3" body lift?
I will be adding a body lift and a wheel/tire combo soon. The only question I have is which tire to put on it. The truck is a 97 s/c 4x4 orp. I know a 33" would fit and look good, but could a 35" be put on?
Any insight is greatly appriciated.

Yes, 35" tires will fit. But there are some considerations to be taken. The specs for the wheel you are using are very critical, like the backspace and the width. Both have very much to do with changes that will affect tire fitment. Depending on those the tire may rub or not.
Before spending money on your new wheel/tire combo be sure that you will pay for what you want and that it will fit.
I am just waiting for my 35's to come in early october.

JMtruck,
what backspacing are you using for the 35"'s? I am not sure what wheel manuf. I am going to use yet. I am leaning toward Welds or Centerline wheels.

I am planning on getting a set of Mickey Thompson's Classic II in the 17x9 size. That rim comes with a backspace of 5" and does not interfere with the calipers. Haven't released them yet but should be out early october, I hope.
Centerline's and Weld's are great but they did not offered a 17" for my taste. And I want to stick with 17's since my next step is doing the suspension lift to make space for the BFG 37x12.5R17's and I don't want to go through the process of selling and buying wheels again.

Langer: I just got my 3" lift on and I am having the same prob. trying to find out what I can put on the truck. I have been told to try this and try that but I don't know what to do. I would like to go tall and wide but nobody will tell me what will fit on my 97 with a 3" lift. I don't want to TRY anything I want to DO. I was looking for some pictures of the same set-up that I have with something like a 33 or a 35/12.5x16. If you find anything let me know.

roc_sld,
good lookin' truck. I think I am leaning towards the 33's with the body lift. That way no trimming will be needed and the 33's will give the illusion of the truck being taller with more wheel well clearence. Good luck on your search, let me know what you find.

Check the suspension treads of more than 30 days old up to a year and you will find photos of different trucks with several combinations of lifts and wheel/tire combos.
Also the galleries are a good place to start.

I know for a fact that 3" body lift and 315/75/16's will work. There are plenty of people on the list that have done this combo, and for that matter there is a guy that woks at the local Lowes that has a 97 4x4 stepside with the 3" body and 315/75/16's(35x12.5). Just to let you know, we don't want trucks running around with little tires.
