gears?

Anbody know how to figure out what rear gears I have on my 01 supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4? I don't have the sticker from when it was new. Someone told me it sounded like I had 3:31's after I said that it runs about 2000 rpm's at 75 mph in overdrive. I guess that means that I can't do much about going up in tires from the P265/70/17 ones that are on it now without changing the gears, which I don't really want to do. Is there a tire that would be a little wider while keeping the same height so that I could keep the same wheels and not change the gear ratio? Discount said I could go to a 9" wheel, or go to a tire like a 285 something.

19 = 3.55 open
H9 = 3.55 LSD
26 = 3.73 open
B6 = 3.73 LSD
27 = 3.31 open
18 = 3.08 open
25 = 4.10 open
B5 = 4.10 LSD

Thanks, APT. That eases my mind a little bit. That's beter than the 3.31. Does that mean I could probably go to a 285 size tire instead of the 265?

I have a Supercrew 5.4L 3.73 rear end with 285/70R17 and wish I had stuck with 265/70. Power loss, ride quality (of the BFG LT laod rating), and fuel economy have suffered. But, they look good and that's what counts, right?

Are you on the stock wheels? I like to see what the 285's look like. I need the economy and ride, though. How much different did the 265's look? I'm wondering about going to a little wider wheel (8"or 9") to get the wider look with the same tire. Not even sure you can run 265's on a 9 inch wheel. I currently have Michelins on it that I love and they don't have many miles on them. (7500?).

Click me or the WWW below any of my posts. Click on each picture for a little larger. I don't have any pictures on-line of this truck with the 265's as I only had them for 3 days. My last truck as a 99 Supercab with 17" wheels and I prefered the Revos I bought for that truck more than these BFG's. Also, I suspect the suspension is stiffer on this truck than my 99.
