RABS problem Part 2
RABS problem Part 2
Now that my ABS light is working now ABS light fix, I've got a new problem that I'm hoping someone can help me out with.
It was raining the other night and I was on some back roads testing the ABS on the rear brakes. When I slammed on the brakes, I felt the brake pedal push back a few times, then the rear brakes locked up.
I did this several times and the ABS light on the dash never came on. The next day I got underneath the truck and disconnected the ABS speed sensor in the axle housing. The ABS light then went on.
Does anyone have ideas on why the anti-lock works initially and then locks up w/o setting off codes?
Thanks for any input.

$13 for a new sensor, a 13mm socket and 5 minutes later, it appears my problem is fixed.
I put the new sensor in this morning and luckily it started raining AFTER I finished, so I was able to take the truck out for testing.
With the new sensor, the brakes don't lock up at all. So I guess my old sensor was bad enough to cause the ABS to not work properly, but not bad enough to set-off the light.
The new sensor is a slightly different design and the only problem I had was using a little force to get it to seat past the o-ring.
RABS comparison
When I was researching my problem, I found some posts asking about the location. Here is a pix of where the sensor bolts to the top of the diff.
