Question Michelin Pilot LTX...great tire?

I have found the rims I want to buy,at long last. American Racing has decided to produce the rough cast Torque Thrust D
in sizes up to 20"!! What can I say,I'm different .. Now the task of picking out tires has come up. I'm leaning towards Michelin Pilot LTX tires, because I have nothing but good luck with their tires in the past. Is anyone running these tires on their truck so I can get some feedback, about traction, handling, noise?
I spend 99% of the time on pavement anyway,so I don't really need off road tires. TIA,,,,,,98

Cool! Thanks Skank Dog,
The rims I was wanting only come in 18's ,and 20's so that would work..I'm gonna go with the 18 x 8's. Let me know,,,98

I have Pilots mounted on Lightning rime (285/60/18). The tires are great. Quiet, great wet/dry traction and seem to be wearing well.

Another vote of confidence, great!! These Yokahamas are doing great mileage wise, but the
only evident wear is uneven(alignment trouble?)
I will stay away from directional tires from now on,if this is any indication of how they act on a daily driver....Funny,my original tires never wore unevenly? I've had an alignment, since the new tires,too(20k on them now) Ready for a set of Michelins(real tires!)now ,,,,,98

Personally, I think the pilot's would be the only way to go. Most other tires (yokohama, BFGoodrich) in the 18-20" range take on car characteristics. Usually they're Z-rated or a little lower, so they don't last that long.

The Michelin Pilot LTx M/S would be a great tire. Excellent all weather traction, Michelins famous smooth, quiet ride, and, you can still use your truck! These tires can still handle a load without sagging.

Best of all, they're not Z-rated, you might get more than 15k! I'd guess at least 30 out of them, couldn't tell ya for sure though.

Plans: Lund hood deflector, superchip, Poweraid, Xenon sport Flares, (custom ram-air idea?)
New: Pioneer DEH-P6300 Head unit (I definately reccomend it!)

To help, for some reason, trucks can't keep an allignmet very well. I'd have it done every 5-10k miles just to get the even wear on the tires.

Exclamation

For some reason the front left on my truck is worse than the right. I had an alignment at a non-dealer shop,so I shouldn't have expected much,I guess. $50,and the steering wheel was about 3 deg. off center. Going to try it again at a
dealer this week possibly. I'll try to get them to dismount the tires, and switch sides. I hope this will cut down on the racket these tires make, since
the insides are wearing more,,,,98

I've just bought American Racing Teron (Model 770) chrome wheels (18x8.5) and am planning on putting Michelin 285 60 18 LTX tires on. How should this affect the ride vs. the stock 16 or 17" tire that comes with the truck? It's a 4x4 Flareside.

Thats a pretty large tire/rim my friend.

Overall, as long as the tire is balanced as well as possible, you shouldn't notice much of a difference. You might have a little harder ride because the tires don't have as large of a volume (air) as the stock but I think you'll enjoy

Just had the michelin pilot's put on yesterday. My advice...GET A SET OF 'EM!!! They ride and handle extreamly well!! Your gonna pay a pretty penny for them, but IMO, they are worth it!!!

Cool

Thanks for remembering Skank,
Sounds good,I wish I could afford them right now,but I'm going to have to wait I'm thinking I'll be close to $1300 with rims and tires both. How much were just your tires? Curious as to what I have to look forward to. My Fiance doesn't understand,of course According to her,the stock wheels and tires are just fine,lol,,,,98

98-I bought the tires at discount tire. I told them that tire rack.com had them for 194.00 each, and they honored that price!
Any way ya cut it,youll have nearly $1000 in tires alone!
I got the Lightning wheels at www.karkraft.com for 179.00 each, which is a steal compared to the 471.00 each the dealership wanted!! Oh well, it was all worth it even though the wife got her panties in a wad over the whole ordeal.
