Exclamation damn rims!!!

Ok, so I got the 3" body lift on my baby and now I want some new wheels and tires.....here's where I'm confused.....I want the 15 inch wheel and a 33x12.5x15 inch tire. I've been throught the posts on the board and there seems to be mixed views on weather or not the 15 rim will fit...some say yes, some say no....so what is the verdict???? does anyone have these rims on their truck??...for the record I have a 2001 4x4 ORP.....If these wheels will fit what backspacing do I need?? I've been looking at some wheels from amreican racing. I want a 15x10 inch wheel. will the 3.75 back space be enough?? guys please help here, I wanna get this right the first time.....If they cant fit, then what should I do???...I definanatly want the 33x12.5 tire....what do I do??....If anyone has 15's on their truck, please post the wheel type and backspacing so I can get some ideas....thanks guys

First Off, YES SOME 15's will fit. I have personally seen a set of prime wheels in a 15 on one. Now, what the backspacing was I dont know. It was sitting in a parking lot. Now for the 33's. What tire in particular are you looking at? A lot of manufacturers are starting to make their tires in 16's, 16.5's, and 17's. So is their a particular reason you needed 15's?

I only wanted 15's because of the appearance. I like the look of 15's with 33" rubber on them......I have nothing against 16" wheels...I was gonna go with the bfg mud tire in a 33x12.5.....

the eagle 118s fit., the only problem is, the rims have a very little backspacing. The rims stick way out of the fenders. The reson for this is to clear the rear breaks. So if you like you tires to stick way out, go with the 15s, if you want almost the same backspacing, go with a 16, or 16.5 Also just so you know. I just got some eagle 589s 16x10 and they make the tires stick out about a half an inch past the fender. So if you go with a wide rim, it will do push the tires out farther.

Hey Meskin,
I've got the scoop on the wheel thing, because I have them on my '97 4x4. They are the Eagle Alloy 1189's wrapped with 33x12.50x15 General Grabber M/T. The offset is -77mm and the backspacing is 2.5". Their web site is www.eaglealloywheels.com if you want to check them out. And actually, if you're interested, mine are for sale. I love the looks of the wheels and they don't stick out as far as you might think, or at least I've gotten used to it. But I'm selling them because I really want some Weld Scorpios V. Personally, I like the 16.5" wheel size better. So if you have any questions, just e-mail at buckster@f150owner.com

Here is a pic of what they look like.

Question

When I first started looking into rims for my 97 I wondered the same thing (if i could swap the factory 16's for 15's). Then a friend of mine with a 01 got new wheels and tires and informed me that the tire shop tried 15's and they would not fit. Glad to hear that there are some out there that will fit. Maybe there is hope yet for mine. Then on second thought the F150's are prone to vibration with certain wheels and rim widths over 8 inches due to the hub centric design. So I might just stay with a 16x7 or 16x8 to keep the steering geometry correct or heck who knows maybe I'll keep the stock ones they are not too bad except for the stupid center caps that like to corrode. By the way does anyone know where I can find center caps on line for the 16in alloy 6 spoke/6 opening wheel online? What do you people think should I stay stock or go aftermarket ( like to stay under about $120 per wheel is possible)?

Thanks for all your help guys....its hard to decide when that much money is involved......I decided to go with the 16" atlas rim and a 315/75/16 yoko geo mt......I like the looks of this combo, as it is what one of our fellow board brothers runs and they look great on his truck.....I'll post pics later next week when I get it all set up....thanks again...
