285/75/17 pics? and other ????
I would like to see some pics of 285's on stock ford 17" rims. I would prefer to see it on stock, unlifted trucks.
Also,
I am trying to locate a set of factory ford 17" rims. I want to go with 285's...what are the pros and cons of a LT tire versus a "P" tire?
Thanks,

I don't believe there are any tires availible in that size. I suspect you mean 285/70R17, though. Click on my WWW icon below for pictures of my truck with them. Stock suspension.
Difference between LT and P: generally LT have more plys which are stiffer, stronger, and can carry more load than P-rated. What this means in the real world, is better control with a heavy load, better resistance to punctures for off-roading, and a stiffer ride on roads. Unless you do a lot of searious off-roading in rocky/wodded areas, I recommend P when availible for light duty trucks. My experience is that LT is overkill for most people's uses and the ride suffers noticably. Also, LT tires are heavier which compounds with a larger tire size - performance suffers.
I love the look of my truck, but wish I stayed with Revos instead, even if I had to stick to stock size.

APT,
Ya, I did mean 285/70/17...my bad! I love the way your truck looks! That is the look I'm going for. What rear end gear do you have? Did you notice a loss in performance by going to the bigger tire?
Thanks,

Realwork is another that has this size.
I have the 3.73 rear gear. I cannot comment about relative performance on this truck. 3 days and 200 miles old, I swapped the tires on this truck. Since it wasn't broken in, I have no idea how performance would have been on the old tires. However, I had a 99 F-150 equipped very similarly, same engine/gear and most of the same options. Compared to that truck with 265/70R17, this one is sluggish, unlocks the torque convertor on the highway more often, and gets significantly lower fuel mileage. The ride sucks too, but part of that is the shocks. But, it is all relative. I drive my vehicles rather hard. Maybe others wouldn't notice the differences.
FWIW, my old truck with 265/70R17 Revos:

WHat is it about the Revo's that you liked so much?
Have a 2001 SCrew 4x4 that I ordered with LT tires. Wanted the stronger tire. From the factory the balance. etc., was great. At 35K miles got a sidewall puncture and replaced the set (had a lot of tread left). Used the spare and 3 new. The 3 new would never balance (3 tries in 3 diferrent shops). Finally replaced the set and the shop switched on me and put "P" rated. Noticed the next day and called and decided I was tried of dealing with tires. The "P" was a big improvement on smoothness of ride. When I put a heavy load in or behind next time I might wish I had the "LT"s.
Does anyone know the factory recommendation on the PSI for the "P" rated for the 265/75/17? My truck (inside driver's door sill) gives the "LT" PSI since that it what it came with. Thanks

Here is my truck. I love the Look! BFG's are my favorite, they are not too loud even @ 90mph.
