Question Tire height question/formulas?

I have asked this question before I know, but if someone could help out with this. I have decided on a tire size of 275/60/17,and plan to buy some 17x9" wheels to accomodate the extra width of the new tires. Now,my question is.... Is a 275/60...(17") taller than a 275/60...(16)? Would a 275/55/17 be closer?(is one that size made?)
I am trying to stay close to a stock height,so I won't have to change out the speedo gear...or start the whole confusion of deciding which one is right.
Are there any quick formulas to figure this out,or does anyone know right off?
Thanks in advance,,,,,98

Cool

Ok, according to my little online calculator thingy for Metric Tire Conversions:

275/60/17 tires & rims will have a diameter of 30"
275/55/17 tires & rims will have a diameter of 28.9"
275/60/16 tires & rims will have a diameter of 29"

This makes it appear as if the 275/55/17s will be closest to stock height. Hope this helps!

Hey Thanks BigBad!
I've been wanting to change rims and tires for forever. Do tire companies actually make that size? (275/55/17) I don't look forward to finding that size, and ordering the rims, all in the space of two or three weeks. I move around every five to seven weeks, and I don't have room to store one or the other while traveling between cities. Sounds impossible, but I'm going to try and pull it off,LOL,,,,,,,98

I was looking for the Dueler HP's when I bought my last set of tires. The Bridgestone dealer I went to said they couldn't get them?! I think he was just extremely lazy(could tell by the lack of personal hygeine,LOL) They are going to look sweet when I finally get them,,,and the rims Thanks again!! ,,,,,,98

Formula example 285/75/16

285 x .03937 = 11.22 tire width in mm to inchs
11.22 x 75% = 8.41 tire section height (from
tire bead to edge)
8.41 x 2 + 16 = 32.83 section height x two plus rim diamter equals tire height

Thank you,dwdodd!!
So the only constant in the equation is the .03937? And that number works with all tire sizes? That's a very simple way to figure the tire height out,COOL,,,,,98
Thanks again!
