Thumbs up

So.it's a impact wrench attachment that limits the torque? Sounds like a great deal, even for Snap-on! I'll look into it,thanks!,,,,,98

Cool

98, there are several LS's that you can buy after market. There are several threads if you do a search. My axel wrap and wheel hop problems have become worse now that one tire won't spin. Cal Tracs are next!

Cool

Hey Flats Man,
I was under the assumption that the center sections of each unit were different. So,I just need to buy an LS gearset, and switch them out? Lemme know,thanks,,,,98
Something I just remembered!! Before you go too far with suspension mods, there may be a solution for all your troubles. There is a four link bolt in rear suspension available for these trucks.
I think it is Air Ride technologies that builds them. It does away with the leaf springs entirely, and has air bags for the spring assembly. They did an install and review in one of the three truck mags, and they said the improvement in traction and ride was astounding. The install is fairly involved, but nothing you couldn't handle,though...Give it a look see,,,,,,,98

Cool

The Auburn Pro, as well as the other units, use your existing gear set but if you are thinking of changing gears down the road you should do it when you install the LS. I took some very detailed pictures of the install and when they are developed, I wll post them for you on this thread. I looked up the Air Ride Technologies unit last night and it looked great. The only down side for me would be the compressor and the complexity of the system. I would hate to be in the Keys an have a bag blow out while pulling my boat, if you know what I mean! The reason I am considering the Cal Tracs is that they are simple and pretty fool proof. Check them out at www.calvertracing.com. They have a set for the 97-2000 F150 that should get me off the line pretty good. Take care!

It's a pressure regulator valve. Set it at XXXpsi & just use the impact wrench to spin the nuts tight. Drive ~50 miles then re-torque the nuts with a torque wrench.

If you have any intention of changing gear ratios, do as others have stated: change them when you install the LS differential. Auburn makes a good LS that is much better at preventing slip than "normal" LS designs. But they are not "serviceable". Once they wear out, you have to have the entire unit replaced. Other brands (factory) have clutch-packs that can be replaced for less $$ when they are worn-out.
Note: I have the Auburn, but I thought that you should know about the long-term ownership issues.

Talking

I've got to do something either way, even with the three measily mods I have now the right rear spins(alot) I can't believe the person who ordered this truck with a class 3 hitch, didn't order the LS diff?
Anyway,,Thanks for the great info,,Flats Man & nomo!
Flats Man,,from what I've heard about the bags, they are nearly indestructable. You could use some coil-overs in place of the bags, too. Your right though, the weight of the compressor(and tank ) would slow your truck down. They would give you some traction, too It's your truck, though, and I can understand keeping it simple and trouble free, thanks for the rear diff. info ,,,,,,98

Cool

jarrettruelz88!

I just noticed you also have a Falcon! I have a 65 in the early stages of restoration. I'm thinking of going with the mini T-bolt route with it. Teardrop hood fiberglass decklid,fenders,etc..I'm hoping to stroke a 5.0 FI engine to drop in it. Maybe a beam axle, too, for the front! Wish it was already done! Saw some really fast Falcons at the all Ford drags in Columbus Ohio,,,,,98
