275/70 16 pirelli scorpion at, fit stock rims?any good?
I am looking to replace my stock tires and I was wondering if a 275/70 16 would fit on a stock rim.Pirelli is the only company that I can find that makes this size of tire. Are they any good.

I'm not sure about that size on the stock rims, but I can tell you they are pretty good tires. I had 265/75/16's on my stock rims and they fit and looked great... After I had a 3.5 inch lift done last week, they looked a little samll so I went with BFG AT 285/75/16's. I had to go to a bigger 16X8 wheel for these, but it was well worth it. Tread pattern is a little more aggressive but still "streetable" and they fill up those wheel wells better. (stock wheels were 16x7). I've posted some pics in the "suspension" category if you're interested.

lightingcrashz,
275/70 have a rim range of 7-9". However with any 'range' you should pick the dead middle = 8". 265/75 have a 7 - 8, so the middle is 7.5 which means you can still use (get away with using) your stock rims (7").
My only concern is the tire getting too close to my Gibson single exhaust (going to the rear of tire).
Say JonC, did you feel a big power loss with your 265/75's?
(I'm sure you must have w/ the 285's.)

I had the 265/75 put on saturday. not a very noticable power loss and I have a v-6.It really will depend on your gearing.I have the 3.55.A 3.08 rear end and you will have a huge power loss.

Lightingcrashz,
Glad to hear regarding your 265/75 put on saturday - has "not a very noticable power loss" with 3.55 gears and v-6.
I have 5.4 on an '98 F-250 LD 4x4 SC w/towing pkg using 3.73 gears. So I guess I would also not 'feel' much power loss. Sure hope so.
From another post, you mention nothing larger than 255/70 tires fit the spare with a reciever hitch. So are you running w/o a spare?
I hadn't thought about the tow pkg causing me a problem with a larger spare tire, only the exhaust pipe. Uhm.....

My spare is the stock size.I have an air compressor in my toolbox.I would only put the spare on if there was abosultely no way around it.
