7 bolt wheels?

I just bought a 2003 F150. Dealer found it for me. I haven't even picked it up yet. I stopped at the dealer to check it out and its just what I wanted. I did notice it had 7 bolt wheels. Whats up with that? It does have the 7700# tow package but its the first F150 I've seen with 7 bolt wheels. Anyone know anything about them?

That's what's on the Superduty, more than likely you have the heavy duty axles because of the 7700# package. Be happy!

Cool

I believe Super Duty's have 8 lug wheels.

The 7700 isn't a tow package rather a payload package. Mine is rated to tow 8300lbs and it is a SC with 4x4.

It's basically a 3/4 ton truck wrapped up in F150 sheetmetal. It will ride rougher but you can haul quite a bit more stuff in the bed than a regular 150. The 7 lug wheels simply hold more weight.

If you want to trick out the truck, finding custom 7 lug wheels will be a problem as only 2 mfg make them, and they are spendy.

Thanks guys. I checked the axle code (26) and its "F250 3.73 reg. axle". I have 7700# payload group, 7700# GVWR package, and trailer tow prep. This one's a 4x2 reg. cab and is rated to 8800 lbs. My tt will only weigh about 6000 loaded but I wanted all the edge I could get. The little odds and ends start adding up. Nerf bars, across the bed box, tools, wife I should be fine. She's strong for a small V8. I left the dealer this morning, pulled out into traffic and lit up the tires. Don't need as much foot as I did with my old chevy. Thanks again for the replys.

Up in flames,
Custom wheels really aren't something I need. I'm an old guy and this is a truck to tow my TT to the trout streams and scenery. Just an F150 7700 XL with air, cruse, and cloth seats. Nothing fancy. I don't even have power windows. Sure, I want it to look nice. I just bought an ARE bed cover and theres a set of Weston nerfs (black) in the garage. Wifes only 4' 10" and NEEDs a step. I'll probably pick up a BugGuard for the hood and thats about it. I think it will look just swell

Its nice to hear from another "seasoned senior". I have a 2002 F-150 King Ranch. I've had it for almost two years and all I've done to it is a Line-X Spray in Bedliner and an A.R.E. Tonneau. I'd like to put a grille guard on it if I can ever talk the wife into the expense but that's about it. I don't see a lot of customizing in my future.

Good luck with the new truck.

7700SC4X4, I was thinking F-250 when I said Super-Duty. I thought that 250s were Super-Duty? F-250s on my dealer's lot have 7 lugs. Sorry if I am mistaken about which is a Super-Duty and which is not.
