Lug Nut Torque Specs
Lug Nut Torque Specs
I recently purchased a 2003 King Ranch SuperCrew and now that I have a couple hundred miles on it I wanted to check the torque on the wheels. I looked in the owners manual and it said for 5 lug wheels 150 lb/ft torque, I thought that sounded high since the specs on our Crown Vic aluminum wheels is 85-90 lb/ft torque.
Does anyone have the correct torque spec, I don't want to damage one of my wheels, I imagine they cost an arm and a leg.

For anyone / everyone else out there, would you think my lugs should be torqued to 150 lb/ft since I've upgraded to 18" Lightning wheels with 14mm lugs? I'm curious, because I've been running them at 100 lb/ft. Anyone?
150 ft. lb. Lug Nut Torque? Does anybody at ford think anymore?
OK, so the wife is out with your truck to pick up a dresser she found on Craigs list for a song, great deal. On the way home she gets a flat.
"Honey I have a flat and I am on the freeway"!!!
"No Problem dear, just jack up the truck and put on the spare"
"Is that hard to do?"
"No you just walk down the highway till you see a farm, wake up the old farmer and ask him if he has an 18MM 1/2 inch drive or larger breaker bar, Deepwell socket for same, and a 4 foot long pipe to loosen the lug nuts, Nothin to it"
I guess the guy at ford that designed the spark plugs for my 5.4 litre Triton designed the lug nuts too.

Jayhawker.... If you don't mind my asking, where did you find the torque spec in your manual? I've been through mine a couple times and can't find anything relating to torque specs.

2000- Current wiht 14mm lugs is 150-Ft. Lbs.

They actually changed in 2000. I believe some of the early 2000 models ha 12mm and the rest of the year had 14mm.
Yeah I knew it was a mid year change, but I thought it was 2001

) to torque my 100 (98 f150) how the heck are you supposed to do 15?
