Cool Excessive brake squeaking

for the past week or so, I've had excessive brake squeaking on my 99 with 4 wheel discs. I first thought it was brake dust from not washing the truck for 4months. I thoroughly cleaned the wheels and it is still there. It happens at all speeds, weather conditions and loads. It is driving me nuts. The brakes are not worn, I checked that. I am beginning to think I may have a bad bearing in the rear axle or something. Otherwise my brakes are fine. they work well and the rotors aren't even warped. It's just like the brakes said "hey, I think it's time to squeak for a while". BTW, I have 15,000 miles and carry about 800-1200 lbs. 99% of the time. Anybody else had this?

Cool

Axle bearings are a possibility but I would also check for brake lining contamination- just spray em with a brake cleaner. Also, a small piece of brake dust or even a tiny rock/grain of sand can become embedded in the lining and create a squeel. In that case, try hitting the braks very sharply several times, if that doesn't cure it, remove and surface sand the pads & rotors.
