NEED Traction in snow???

I had the BFG long trail TA's on the rear, they sucked!! I tried BFG winter Salomn's , excellent snow traction. These worked well for me just an FYI.

Red face

I take back my glowing review of my tires. I was driving in slush the other day. Today I drove on top of snow, and the truck was all over the place. I slowed down for my driveway, turned in, and the front started to slide a little. I came to a stop to try it again, and could not go anywhere! They kept spinning like crazy for about 20 feet while very slowly moving forward. They finally got enough traction to get through my apt. gates. Talk about embarrassing, lol!
I still think they are great in rain and slush, just not on an unplowed street with 5 inches of fresh snow

Continental Sport LT/SUV's with 32 lbs of air in them. Size 275/60/17

No weight in the bed though? Maybe that's what I needed?

I recently put BFG A/T's on my truck. And they are AWESOME in the snow. We got 14 inches of fresh snow on Christmas day and these tires eat it up like there was no tomorrow. In most spots, even in the deep stuff, I didn't need 4 high. My old Michelin LTX AT's could never do that. And the original Wrangler RTS's, well we wont bother commenting. It would be a waste of time.

If your looking for traction, but don't mind some extra bouncing to your truck, go with the BFG A/T's. Just hope the last as long as my old Michelins. Over 75K miles

I beg to differ. I have the long trails and they are great in the snow and rain. they were even good on the ice a few weeks ago. I drive my truck in the snow until it gets stuck then I put it in 4x4 and I very rarely have to do it.

You are also comparing an all around tire (long trail) with a winter tire. I certainly hope they got better traction!

Peace-

BFG A/T - K/O's

I agree with SVT2205. The BFG A/T's work very well in the snow. The sidewalls are stiff and they make a little noise on dry pavement.

I changed to the BFG's the day I took delivery on the truck. The stock Goodyears where designed for an SUV "grocery getter".

BTW - I got the same 14" Christmas day snowstorm here in West Townsend. Good work out for the 10/26 Toro.

Regards - Remo

I guess I'll find out how my Longtrails do in the morning if we get the snow they say we will get as we might get about inch of the white stuff and my tires have about 24,000 mile on them in little over a year I hope they do well if we get any of the snow.

I agree with ATP. We got some snow on New Year's Eve, and people were sliding all over the place. However, my Goodyear AT/S were solid.
