That's nothin'!

You gotta wrap the idea of a 5.4 Navigator motor with forged crank rods & slugs, a pair of 4V heads, maybe even a set of those new kickin FRPP DOHC heads. 330 DOHC aluminum block, Yeah!!!
There ARE guys making them.

Seriously though, one of the latest things in the mustang world is the Cobra crate motor, there were a number being sold at decent prices, bolt one in & GO!

But why do that when you guys have plenty of room for a lightning motor, those are the Cat's Azz.

4.6 Romeo

NiagaraGlen.

I am confused. I have a 2000 F150 and it has a 4.6Romeo. Your post makes it sound like no 4.6L truck engines are Romeo's and that is not quite correct.

Just curious.

Check this out... http://www.cobrapoweredgt.com/

http://www.bishopengine.com/ had quite a few cobra crate motors for sale. They are all gone now I think.

I have no idea about issues involved in getting these to work on trucks like the auto tranny, you would have to use your trucks computer but get it tuned for the DOHC I bet.
Not a bolt & go swap for the F150, sorry if I gave that impression, I guess I still have Stangs on my brain too much

I'm curious too, that's why I'm asking these questions.

how can you tell your F150 has a romeo engine?
Is there an easy way to tell?
the oil filler tube is on the passenger's side?

I wonder why Ford would put the Windsor's in the Stang in '99 & '00, but would put Romeo's in the F150 in '00?

I can tell mine is a Windsor because there is a sticker on the drivers side cam cover that says 4.6 Windsor. We can also tell by the sticker on the inside of the door. I believe that there is a code that you have to translate. I know that there are people here with Romeo and Windsor engines in '97 and newer trucks. There are slight differences between the two, I can see that by looking at the exploded views in my Ford factory service manual on cd.

Taken from the piston slap thread of a year or two ago, there's a link on the home page.,,,,,98

How can I tell where my engine is made?

Ø All 5.4 and 6.8L engines are built in Windsor Canada
Ø 4.6L engines are built in Windsor or Romeo
Ø If the 8th position in your VIN is a "6" then your 4.6L engine was built in Windsor, Canada
Ø If the 8th position in your VIN is a "W" then your 4.6L engine was built in Romeo, Michigan
Ø You can also look at the label on the valve cover (driver's side of your engine bay). It will tell you where your engine was made (Windsor or Romeo), as well as the build date.

Ok, this is good stuff! Thanks Guys.

Does anyone know if the valve covers are interchangable between the Romeo & Windsor versions of the 4.6?

The Romeo car engine has 11 bolts holding the valve cover down, the Windsor in the mustang has more (13/14).

No, I think the 4.6 truck Windsor and the 4.6 truck Romeo are differnt as well. I'd have to consult a service manual to be 100% sure on that.
