HI!... WHITE TRASH : Going with your above mentioned theory, that 6.3 tenths = 60H.P. So what your saying is that it takes 10H.P to drop a tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile NOT!!!!! With that theory, I guess I picked up 148H.P since I dropped 1.48 seconds off my 1/4 mile times (16.01 to 14.53) with all of my mods. NOT LIKELY! You must also remember that the faster time you get, the more H.P is needed to drop it further. Also the SUPERCHIPS #'s for the 5.4's chip are FLYWHEEL figures, NOT rear wheel figures. When I take my 4100LB truck (dragstrip weight) and run it through my DRAGMATH program, it tells me that my truck was making 197.47H.P at the rear wheels to be able to run 16.01.That 16.01 run was done bone stock. Then when I calculated for my 15.38 run it tells me that I had to be making 222.74H.P at the rear wheels to be able to run that time weighing 4100lbs. That's a H.P increase of 25.27H.P at the rear wheels. Taking into account for drive train loss, it would put the SUPERCHIPS advertised 28H.P at the flywheel into perspective.Remember that you can't just throw the SUPERCHIP in and dyno it. You won't get TRUE figures because it takes about 800KMS for the chip to be going at full strength. I put almost 2000KMS on my SUPERCHIP before I went to the dragstrip. I ran my 15.38 several times in fact. Then I removed the chip and ran 16.01 back to back 3 times. Don't try to debunk this DRAGMATH program either because it is very accurate and I have been using it for years now and has been right on the money everytime. I use it alot with my PRO STREET RANGER (read lower SIG). I am no beginner when it comes to H.P/TORQUE and I build my own race engines. I usually under rate my H.P/TORQUE figures to be on the safe side. I prefer to use a ENGINE dyno instead of a chassis dyno to get my rated H.P #'s. In my honest opinion, DYNO JET chassis dynoe's are a joke. The only way I would dyno my truck on one of these is for pure entertainment. I have seen several F-150's dyno sheets and almost evey stock "PI" 5.4 makes around 195H.P at the rear wheels TOTALLY STOCK. It is well known that the F-150's with the 4R70-W lose about 65H.P through the drivetrain. As for your prediction of my truck only having 210H.P at the rear wheels... I don't think so. I dought VERY much that a 4100lb truck can go 14.53 with only 210RWH.P. By the way that 14.53 run was done with my truck running out of fuel at about the 800FT mark. Now that I have 24lb injectors installed, it should go 14.30's and mabey 14.20's easily. This is getting really close to a stock LIGHTNING's territory. And I'm naturally asperated. I have several buddy's who have had their cars and trucks dynoed on DYNO JET chassis dyno's. One of my buddy's had his CORVETTE dynoed three times on three separate DYNO JETS and got three totally different #'s. 302H.P, 286H.P, and a worst of 241H.P! That's a huge difference in figures. Ever since I seen that I don't trust them. I may be old fashion, but to me the TRUE way of getting your H.P is at the track with e.ts. That's where H.P talks and bull***** walks. No flame intended but I have gone through this exact same SUPERCHIP debate many times before on this board and frankly I'm getting sick of proving people wrong. Have a nice day.

Yup, but I'm talking about rwhp. 100 rwhp usually equates to a 1 second reduction in ET, this is rule of thumb. As you well know, there is more to it than rules of thumb!

I might buy that your truck is making 220-230 at the wheels. In fact that was my guestimate in the above post. My old Lightning had 237 rwhp and would go mid 14's with the stock 4.10 gears. Thank god for gears, a great bang, or ET drop, for the buck!!

If, big if, Superchips does any part throttle, closed loop tuning, then yes the adaptive strategy feature in the Ford's EEC-V will take some time to learn. BUT, since Superchips most likely doesn't fart around with part throttle closed loop situations (not matter what they tell you), the chip should begin to work immediately during open loop WOT runs. The computer goes to look up tables and doesn't rely as heavily on its sensors in open loop WOT. This is where chips makers almost always do their tinkering. I will let you in on a little secret though (straight from Roush engineers and another very reliable source), the EEC 5 does do some learning in open loop as well. Just part of the game as Ford electronics become more advanced. When EEC 6 comes out in 2003, most chip makes already have a test unit, it will be even more difficult to "chip" since they won't have a J3 port!

Two potential problems: dyno operators or differing correction factor standards (SAE, DIN, EEC, etc.) Do you think Nascar would use a Dynojet dyno, the same one as your buddy used, to enforce rules. What abotu IRL, or Craftsman Trucks, or the AMA, or......you get the point. Mine has been dead nuts repeatable all the time.
One thing we'll agree on (I'm sure there is more...he he), is that the Bull Sh__ stops when the green flag drops...........amen.

HI!... Well just for conversation sake, I just ran my current weight of 4108lbs and my best 1/4 mile time of 14.52 on my DRAGMATH 3.O program. It tells me that I would need 265.23 REAR WHEEL H.P.Then add the 65H.P drive train loss that MIKE TROYER and SUPERCHIP'S "EDDY CURRENT DYNO gets when they dyno hundreds of F-150's. That gives me a figure of 330.23H.P at the flywheel. My estimated flywheel H.P of 340H.P was only about 9H.P off but I was also having traction and STILL fuel problems when I ran that E.T. So it most likely will be closer to 340H.P (FLYWHEEL) when I get some better traction and when I figure my fuel problems out. I'll let you guys know how my battle with the "GREMLIMS" goes.LOL!
