Hello, as a new owner of a 98 F250, I've been
rabidly reading the forums for info. They
have been tremendously helpful.
The truck I just got, was purchased from
a fleet return dealer. It was high mileage,
i.e., 121K. I've been unable to determine
any problems with it after driving it for the
first four days and 300 miles. It was
manufactured in Aug 98 with the 5.4 triton,
LS 3.73. The transmission code on the door
is E. The sticker on the side of the transmission has the following info:
2Q
F8UB-1B
PRB-Y 0012124
BD-8E05.
After reading a number of posts, I'm of the
opinion that this is a R100 and not an E40D.
Is this correct?
Also, is there a code for all wheel ABS BRAKES?
One final question: I noticed that the
oil filter is readily accessible, being mounted on a bracket and hanging down
at the rear of the oil pan. Is this an
aftermarket bracket that the fleet serive
depart put on, or was it standard? It sure
is neat.

 

You have the 4R100 transmission indeed. As for the oil filter, im not sure about it. Look at my signature for stuff. Im not sure if all of my truck info is on there, but maybe it is :-) . Also, I doubt u have 4 wheel abs. Mine doesnt, but it doesnt have the ls rear differential either. Is urs a 4x4 or 2x4?
