Post What gas do you use?

I thought this statement on the Chevron site
was interesting:

"...all three major U.S. auto
manufacturers use Chevron Unleaded gasoline with TechronŽ to help their new engines
pass the tough EPA 50,000 mile emission system durability test. They buy and use Chevron Unleaded gasoline, even though they must purchase the gasoline in Kentucky and pay to truck it all the way to the Detroit area, because Chevron does not market gasoline anywhere near Michigan."

NO! I don't work for Chevron and don't use their gas exclusively. Just thought this was interesting.

We do not have Chevron gas here is Boston either. I use Texaco when ever possible here. I do buy the Teckron fuel injector cleaner, the stuff works great.

I used to live right down the street from a Chevron station and used the fuel exclusively for 5 yrs. When replacing a head gasket on my truck, (the 5 yr exclusive user of the fuel), the carb, intake, valves, combustion chamber, pistons, etc. etc. were extremely clean. I believe the additive package in their gasoline is responsible for these results.

I have since moved and am no longer using only Chevron but a few different varieties. I will post results of using other fuels when I replace the head gasket on my 99' F150XLT/4.6L/2WD because of the dreaded oil leak at 40,000 miles ! (Doing it myself thanks to FORD and their great ability to take care of the customer....NOT!)

Seems like an odd quote to me, as you may have seen in some other posts I sell gasoline for a living (refinery not service stations) and I have contacted both GM and Ford, both of whom told me that they buy all their gasoline from BP/Amoco. Anyway, Chevron doesn't have a refinery in KY so that means the gasoline is from another company's refinery or shipped by barge/pipeline, in which case it is mixed with other gasoline.

I will say, however, that they do have a great additive-by the way, Texaco and Chevron are merging so you will get a great additive either way.

I had a couple of bad experiences with texaco. In work truck I had water in tank twice after using texaco gas. Had to use dry gas to correct problem. Since then in my new truck I know use mobil. Its a detergant gas and never had any problems. What do you guys think about mobil? Thanks

Typically, water or other solids/contaminants in gasoline are not a "brand" problem but a "station" problem. There are a million horror stories about what folks have pumped into their tanks from irresponsible stations.

Question

I heard that it's not a good idea to fill up right after or during the time a tanker is filling the station tanks. Pumping in the new gas stirs up sediments in the ground tanks. What do you think?

I've heard that also, F150forever. I never fill up when I see a tanker on the lot!

Texaco and Chevron. I've tried Chevron in the last few tanks after Texaco exclusivly since the SuperChip install and it runs just as well on Chevron is it does with Texaco.
