Post Superchargers!!! Which one is better.

I have a 98 F-150 4.6L auto. I am looking to buy a supercharger soon. I have read a lot of the past posts on superchargers. I am wondering what the difference between the roots type and the centrifical type is. Thanks for your help.

This isn't an answer, rather another question. I plan on getting a 2k1 f150 w/ 4.6 triton and manual trans. How much boost can i safely run on the stock internals, and will the tranny be able to hold up to the increased power? (i like to get on it hard from time to time so i know that'll factor in)

What is the reasoning behind a centrifugal type, then?

I was reading in a comparision article that the shortblock on 5.4l engine (with the exception of lower compression pistons) is the same between regular 5.4s and lightning versions. This would seem to indicate the the 5.4l engine is a very stout piece. Abuse and neglect are the usual culprits of engine demise.

Crash,
Since you can't always believe everything you read....
can you or anyone verify the info I read about the short blocks of "regular" vs. "lightning" 5.4s?
