I thought about that Captain, but I like to do things one at a time so I know what makes it go. Also, cost is a factor. The heads list at Southwest Ford for $850/ea + a $100 install kit.

To All,
I searched for head swap and came up with this thread, which is several months old. Has anyone found the answer? Can the SVO 32 valve head, or the Lincoln Navigator DOHC (32 valve) be a direct swap on the 16 valve 5.4L SOHC. As others have pointed out, these are modular engines, so in theory is should be OK. Has anybody tried this???

HI!... Well guys I called SEAN HYLAND MOTORSPORTS the other day to get some info on getting my heads on my 5.4 ported and polished. During my conversation, I was told that the SVO heads in the FORD MOTORSPORT book are pretty much the same heads that come on "99" - "2001" POWER IMPROVED 5.4's They have the bigger valves and redesigned cumbustion chambers. That's probably why if you read the fine print near the article in the FORD MOTORSPORTS book that it reads "1996-1998 ONLY". That's coming from my "2000" FMS book. SHM also told me that a STAGE 2 porting job on the "PI" heads will give you a 55H.P increase proven on their in-house dyno. In the near future JMC will possibly be installing a set of NEW, previously owned "PI" 5.4 heads on his "2000" 4.6. We'll let you guys know how that goes.
