Timing advancing
Most would say 14, but you can eek a little more out of it if you are willing to run a higher octane. It's really all in what kind of gas you a willing to buy. I've heard as much as 16.

Old Blue is pretty much right on the money.
The factory setting is of course 10 degrees BTDC on the 5.0, I would try starting at 13 degrees BTDC, and then go up in 1 degree increments from there. Pay very close attention to how it pulls at higher rpms in the higher gears, like 3rd & 4th, as detonation can show up there that sometimes cannot be heard, but will show in the seat of the pants with less pull, for example. The knock sensor pulls out a lot of timing anytime it is engaged, it can pull it out in 8 degree increments if the timing is too far advanced, which can spoil the performance of course. That is why we suggest checking this out thoroughly as you pull thru the entire rpm range in the higher gears, so you don't go too far and end up costing yourself power from a spark retard at higher rpms in higher gears (heaviest sustained load on the motor, pulling WOT for an extended period as happens in the higher gears).
Another factor of course is how that camshaft was installed, was it put in the block "straight up", without any advance or retard using offset keyway bushing or was it properly degreed in, as that will affect the power curve quite a bit. If it was put in advanced, then you use less initial spark lead of course.
