Here is my opinion/experience on the truck sensors. Playing with them is free, until you go too far. If in playing with them you gain some power then that is the best bang for your buck.

Whit this one I was lucky/unlucky. The cutting of the tower did not work the way I wanted it to. I was lucky to be able to get it to work again. This will never stop me from trying something else again.

I have an other idea for the MAF. The stock (99-00) uses a tower that sticks out in the air-flow causing a restriction. Reducing this restriction will increase air flow to the engine. What set off my SES light was the extra air flow over the wires. If I can somehow remove the tower while still restricting the air flow over the wires to OEM specs then it should work. After a while cheating the OEM system this way will lean out the fuel ratio so I may have to step up the fuel flow. Larger injectors? Maybe...

Wish me luck

PS. I lost the coin toss that is why my MAF was worked on. Otherwise it would have been Neal. His turn next time.

Whatever you do, do not replace that square tube with a round one. They are specifically designed square to match a specific square inch area with a ratio to many cubic inches -- and flowing air thru a cylindrical tube would waste effort trying to fit spherical inch area flowing in lineal inches.

This is very easy. All you need is something like a liquid rubber (that won't chip off) and coat the wire in the area where it would normally be covered with plastic. As you noted, it will probably run too lean. Larger injectors may not be necessary. All you may need is to increase the duration of injection. A chip mod could probably do the trick.
