HEY FORD BOARD MONITORS!!!!
All of you have valid points, the thing that I see is people that have had poor service visits or do not have a dealer that is willing to diagnose or correct a problem. Try another dealer, one that wants your business. I had my slapping engine replace without the dealer even looking at the truck. Most of us enjoy our trucks and treat them as member of the family, I know I do. This is the first new Ford I've owned and since then I purchased a 2000 Taurus, mostly because its quality seem to be very good. I've had one of those Dodge's and Chevy's and even a T100. I still think this truck can run with Toyota in quality.
Yes manufacturers do utilize a lot of purchased parts, especially automotive, that’s how they can stay cost competitive. If you wanted something that is mostly made by the manufacturer buy a Winnebago.
Anyway enough rambling out of me.
MNFORD99 - If you dont mind me asking where do you work at?
sorry for so may edits don't always trust MS Word.

Y2k 7700, that was a great and informative post, but you lost all credibility with me when I realized you said you were drinking coffee with your pizza!! Man, didn't your daddy teach you better than that? <G>
If I can't have cold beer with my pizza... well, just give me a bologna sandwich!

You can bet that Ford monitors this site. Good example is the Ranger site at fordranger.com (think that is site). Ford actually flew 4 or 5 members of that board to Michigan to meet with them and listen to suggestions of how to make the Ranger better. If you go to the site you can read just what happened at that meeting. Ford chose members who showed technical knowledge and had done some serious work on and with Rangers. If you have a problem with your truck, I think you have to ask yourself is the problem really the truck or the dealer you took it too. There are some dealers out there that give Ford a bad name because of poor service. This site is a great scource of information. It does no good to just come on the site and bad mouth Ford. It won't solve your problem. If you absolutely can not solve a problem, then you have a legal solution. This is my 5th Ford truck and no major problems. Remember, these things come off an assembly line and you cannot expect them all to be perfect.

Y2K, By some odd chance do you work for Ford?
The reason I ask is that you are quick to debunk a lot of things that are said a seem to know a lot about the inner workings of the company. Just wondering. In to your explination of how they fix problems you forgot the most important step. How much will it cost us to fix this! I have worked for the past 15 years for a company that is one, if not the largest in it's field and I have participated in many of the type of teams you describe and that is the reality of the situation. If it will be cost effective it the problem MIGHT get fixed. If the customer will keep on buying the product whether we fix or not, then guess what, that's the end of the team. No action taken. Now you can spout off what ever praise you want about Ford and it's teams and maybe it does happen. But at on time it didn't. I lived in the detroit area at one time and dated a girl whose dad was a Ford exec and was told on more than occasion that if the public keeps buying them why fix it. Profit margins and quarterly reports are the bottom line these days, don't kid yourself. You seem like a well educated guy so sometimes your post surprise me. I am sure you are blind to how big business works. You have admitted you have no knowledge of piston slap but yet continue to slam on those who claim they do. I have also read more than one post from mechanic that have tore down other types of engines that had slap and desrcibed to you what hey saw and what causes piston slap but you continue to post that it doesn't exist. Why? How much proff do you need? Why should anyone give you any facts if you are just going to ignore them. How about this anyone out there with a savage yard find a motor woth loose pistons and it to him. Sorry all but I amm sick on reading a thread and find the same people saying the same crap. You got slap post it once and update us. You don't have it, fine go on to another post.

Bob's F150-
I work for HDR engineering, as a drafter and deal with engineers everyday that can't make their minds up. They are constantly changing what they want.....at least the majority of them. All we ever see is what seems like a never ending stream of redlines to correct.....gets old after a while, just like bring the F150 to the shop.
I have gotten action from Ford now, and have a meeting with a regional Ford representative at my Ford dealer on Wednesday, to see what they are going to do about my truck, and if that doesn't work with him, then I have all the things to apply to the Ford dispute board, and see where that takes me....maybe no where, but then I have a good case agianst them if not a damn thing is done...I don't have the money for an attorney, so I will just have to keep taking the truck in, until it is a lemon according to the Minnesota State Statue on Lemons...
By the way, agian I have the Overdrive light blinking agian, after a drive last night to the gas station.....looks like the 1-2 shift problem agian....2 times, and this is getting very sickening!!!!!! Looks like another stop at the dealership after work today AGIAN!!!!!!
